First, my apologies to Decatur. I failed to see his thread on the same subject before I posted mine. I am sorry that I was unable to attend the public hearing. I do have a serious concern regarding allowing trappers to keep live trapped coons, foxes, and coyotes caged in their personal possession until the end of trapping season. Then they must kill the animal or apply for a game breeder license to keep the animal indefinitely. I personally believe no game mammals or furbearing mammals should be kept live in personal possession under a game breeder license. I believe DNR should reduce (not expand) the number of species of animals that may be possessed live under a game breeder license. [Look what happened when DNR allowed personal possession of live deer under a game breeder license.] The deadline for submitting comments is this Friday, April 8. Submit comments regarding these proposed changes to the NRC at www.IN.gov/nrc/2377.htm by scrolling down and clicking on "Comment on Proposed Rule" next to the “furbearers possession and taking rule amendments.” Comments can also be mailed to: Natural Resources Commission Indiana Government Center North 100 North Senate Ave., Room N501 Indianapolis, IN 46204 All comments sent to the NRC regarding these proposed rule changes will be provided to its members and DNR staff and will be publicly disclosed and searchable on the Internet and in a paper docket as part of the final report.
