I would like to start a year round "mineral" site on my farm. I have no intentions of hunting over or near the location.
Are there particular guidelines to make such a thing legal?
I could make a removable "trough" and just remove it prior to hunting season but I would much prefer to pick an area and isolate it to "no hunting" and make a permanent soil based site.

In order for the area not to be considered "baited", the bait and all residue has to removed for a minimum of ten (10) days. With what I believe you are explaining, I do not believe the law would allow you to hunt in the area. minrals that were disolved into rain water and then absorbed by the soil after it ran out of your removable trough would cause the soil to also be required to be removed.
