The coyote's seem to be getting worse in my area. I've been able to get a few here and there just catching them walking through the fields in mornings. Over the last 5 years or so, we've lost 3 claves, from the looks of coyotes. night before healthy calf, next morning dead and ate up. We've tried calling with very little luck. Its been time consuming trying it and with new calves on the way i want to knock down a few. I've been thinkin of the old red light and drive way senor over a bait pie trick. Is there anything illegal with doing this? Does anyone else have any other advise with trying to knock down the population??

Maybe a local trapper could help you?

I've heard that coyotes smell the after birth and other smells with newborn animals. Talked to a horse breeder that set up a treestand over his barn lot for that reason. He will sit there non-stop after a new one drops...many sleepless nights he's had shooting coyotes. Don't know how true it is but ya may try that.

crhay,
Just where are you? There are some good trappers out here that would probably help.
