My 10 yr. old grand daughter loves to ride with me on the 4 wheeler, does she need a helmet when riding on county roads where it's legal? Where can I find a list of counties that allow ATVs on county roads? Thanks for providing a great service to us.

Under the Off Road Vehicle Statute there is no requirement to wear safety equipment. However, the county may have added it as a requirement within the ordinance that allowed for operation on county roads. I would check with the county that yoy are planning to ride in. Even though it may not be required, most manufactures state and label the equipment that it is not for passengers and if this warning is not going to be followed you increase your chances of having an accident. In that situation, any added safety you can bring into the situation would be a benefit. The link below is a list of counties in Indiana. www.in.gov/dnr/outdoor/4431.htm
