Got tennis practice as usual tonight... but the good news is just south of the school, is a pond with a few dozen birds using it. Got the canoe in the back of the truck- am setting up on an island. One of my players is a senior, he has half day school and works with the building trades program. He's kicking the birds off at noon inhopes they come back at 4:30. I'm letting the team out early and getting in a lsast minute hunt. Hopefully we can get a bird or three ;D If not we'll catch a few bass before we leave!

I know right where you are headed. If I did not have a lawn that was about a foot tall right now, I'd chase you down and force you to take me out with you. ;D I was supposed to go out with some buddies this morning for one last shoot, but work got in the way. They got into a mess of birds in a silage field not too far southeast of where you are heading this afternoon. They shot them up pretty good. Good luck. Knock a couple down for me.

Have fun with that yard, BTW, can ya get to mine too so I won't have to cut it tomorrow? I was hoping to have it done By the time I got home from the all day tennis match...... BTW, I got permission to access a small lake near where you hunt. - where one river flows into another and the geese hang out thick once it starts to ice up.... if you BOW ovER I might let ya in on it wink wink. We can walk up stream to the inlet without sinking in goo.

I'll pass on mowing your yard. I've got to get mine done. Hunter's Safety for Trev all weekend. She's pumped up. I think that sounds like a good idea come late December or into January with the honkers. We'll have to hook up. Actually, I think I've got a similar access point. My mother-in-law owns a strip along where a river dumps into a small lake and it never ices up. Not sure why I never thought of going out and hunting that spot late season. Good luck tonight!

We probably saw 200 hundred tonight had one group come in right over our head into our spread we whacked three of them. Tom,Travis, and Travis neighbor Tony all killed one. I was guiding and calling that why i didnt kill one. And yes Travis' had an orange leg band. And my seven year old daughter was with us that made it even better. Travis has several pictures to post when he gets to work at 2am

My hunt was fun. We canoed to an island and set up dekkes and brushed ourselves. Out came the fishing poles. We caught a small mess of bass/ bluegills to fillet while waiting for the geese to fly. The down side was the 200 or so birds that were right across the road on the OTHER pond. We had three birds swing over us, one within range. I let the kids all shoot at it. I had some old #4 steel in the side pocket of my blind bag. My son wanted to try for a dove or two so I let him pass shoot at a few birds. He missed, but heated up his gun. Just as we were packing up for the evening, I got a chance to chat with our own Greendeem. He stopped by. Always nice to chat with him. Frustrating to watch 200 plus birds get up in the last few minutes of shooting light and fly away from you. But beautiful at the same time.
