I'm having a new mold made and will start making new goose and duck calls soon. I would like to get input from a couple of people who are experienced and open-minded. I will send them a call to test and let me know what they think of it.
The duck calls are double reed and the goose is a short reed. They will have wood mouth pieces, acrylic tone barrels with polymer tone boards.
I would appreciate unbiased input as each engineering change cost serveral hundred dollars, so I want to streamline developement of these calls as much as possible.

I could do that. Are they injection molded?

Thanks for all the offers, I though it might be a tough sell to get people to try out a free call. Chico: Yes the wood is 100% injection molded. ;D Actually, the tone board is molded; the acrylic is cast then machined to spec. I've talked to some of the big manufacturers and the consensus is the injection molded calls have a lower quality sound and break easily. It's interesting that as much competition as there is making calls; people are very up front about what works and what doesn't. One call maker has spent a couple of hours answering questions and providing advise on materials and marketing. Must be that deep down we all hate the sound of a bad call.

I'd help out in any way I could. I am a call junkie and have a soft spot for wood calls. Wood offers a richness that you just can't get from poly or acrilic.
Let me know if I can help.

I'd love to help, but I can't blow a duck call, and I can only blow a flute for geese. Good luck!

Good luck up north Art. Maybe we can get you down for a hunt and you can show the man how to blow a goose call. He's the newest addict to our hill-jack group. I got a field you would love. A couple hundred fattening up there most every evening. Unfortunately, a lot of the crops are starting to come in so the hard part is about to start. Keeping pace with where they are feeding.

Hey firstwd... better watch the hill jack comments unless you like red and blue lights!
However, I'll be the first to admit goose calls are my weak point. Luckily there is a deputy here that is willing to help me tune them.
By the way, I hired a very attractive lady to help us at the Deer and Turkey Expo... She said I have to take her hunting and teach her how to use a duck call. Darn the bad luck. ;D
I do need to clarify something, my new calls will be wood/acrylic and acrylic/acrylic , I will still make the wood calls but with the old style toneboards.

Put me on the list. To save shipping, send two to DEC, he and I are less than 5 miles apart, and would be a great excuse for us to get together. BTW, any reports that need printed up for you to help promote your self, I am an English teacher- I can help you cross your I's and dot your T's

Just a quick update. I recieved the first sample toneboards and wedges this morning. There are a couple of small issues that will have to be fixed but they are cosmetic and shouldnt have any effect on the sound of the calls.
I hope to have the first calls finished and tuned by the end of next week... that is barring any unforseen complications.

Sounds good. Will you have them finished for the start of the season here Oct. 21?

That depends on what you call finished. I wont have the clear toneboards and wedges by then. The clear and colored o-rings will also take a while to come in.
