I was told that I could be cited for carrying my wife's shotgun to the truck while turkey hunting because I had already filled my turkey tag by the CO that was waiting on us to come out. He explained it to me and I thanked him for cutting me a break.
Is it legal for a person to carry the gun/bow for a different hunter that is present when he is already "tagged out" and how does that apply to the youth season?
EDIT- To answer your question as to why I was carrying her gun, she was pregnant. He told me if a hunter is not able to carry his/her own weapon then they should not be hunting. He was nice about it at the time, but did confirm with the check station where I told him I checked my bird in to make sure I told him the truth.

It would apply the same to all seasons. A person dressed in hunting apparel and carrying a gun or bow through the woods would 'appear' to be hunting. When this is observed by an officer the decision would be hard to determine. I guess the question that I have in order to better answer you is, "why isn't the hunter carrying their own firearm or bow?" This would eliminate any doubt the officer may have as to the intent of the hunting party. If everyone were legal as well as honest, it would not be an issue. However, based on our officers experiences that is not always the case. Do not consider my response in just your situation. Look at what our officers do on a daily basis state wide with a large variety of hunters. If you have further questions, let me know.
