Well we got to the drawing 30 min early to put our name in. Id say roughly 35 boats were there for 25 blinds (of which 10 at best are worth fighting the lake with 25 mph winds). Well roughly 34 names were called before we were picked last. Needless to say we werent going to hunt this particular lake today. So we piled back into the truck to head 15 min. north to a different lake in which a friend was hunting. We called him and there were 10 boats there at the most and roughly 25 blinds there to hunt so we made the trip. Get there to the check in station at the boat ramp...the lights are off and no one is anywhere to be found. So all in all, what a disappointing way to start the weekend. Now to the shed to string up some more dekes in hope for a better day tomorrow. Oh the joys of hunting public land.

Yes, Im in IL still. And yes the FIPs were at it hard this morning. We got a crappy blind but there's a decent amount of birds here already. The sunny weather didnt help much but neither did the skybusters. We had a few groups start to work into our spread and flair at the neighboring blinds shooting. One nice sized group of mallard drakes worked us and circled out and around over another blind and they tried to pass shoot'em which screwed it up for us badly. When we did get our opportunity we had 3 mallards (2 drakes and a hen) come right in nicely locked up,,,we wiffed. All in all it wasnt bad anyways. The maden voyage of the boat was successful and there's quite a few ducks in the area already without the migration started really heavy yet. It's going to be a productive season over here.

Hmmm thats 8.5 limits. Which means he has hunted every day since the season opened? Thats okay b/c now he has the next month off ;D
Or is that Kyle (and friends) have killed 51 birds? Sorry 911, your math is probably going to need some help. The 21st and 22nd =4 birds each (8 birds), One day I know he deer hunted (0 birds, 8 total). Now I am assuming a total of 6 ducks a day for the other 6 days (36 ducks, 44 total). That is 44 ducks ASSUMING he limited out with 4 mallards and 2 others to fill the bag EVERY DAY minus the 21st, 22nd, and the deer hunting day.
I doubt that has happened. So if we are talking "kyle's crew" vs "Tom's crew" then you're down 62-51 after week 1.

And I ain't killed bird one here in Indiana yet. Now lets see, if Illinois counts then so should Canada. If so I don't think you guys will catch up within the next two seasons or more. ;D

Sounds like the decision was made in my flavor. 296 +/- a few birds in Canada and 14 in Ohio. Woody/Travis I'll have your payoffs in the mail today. I should finish up my corn pile decoy training sessions sometime next week. Once I get all these birds trained up they'll be daily limits for everyone. ;D ;D
