never in my hunting life have I seen so many goofy birds on one morning. We started off with freezing rain and a wind out of the north. Right at day break, we had a mallard drake land in the dekkes without a hesitation. What drove us nuts was that the houses behind us did not allow us to shoot. Through out the day, we had freezing rain, a little snow, 15 minutes of bluebird skies, and a huge flock of scaup come right in staring us in the face. Buffies- 4 came in , three didn't leave. Total for the day: 3 scaup, 3 buffs, one huge bull mallard! Two kids who are forever changed: shaking from excitement and emotion. My 5 yr old tagged along and had the experience of his young life- chugging cocoa, calling his older brother a sissy girl, and holding birds up for the camera. Awesome!!!!!!!!
