I found a corn field this evening being swarmed with ducks and geese. When I drove by it was being cut and the birds were already using it. I stopped and asked the farmer if he would allow me to waterfowl hunt the field. Again I was told, no, sorry but I've already had the phone ringing off the receiver from local residents (new housing addition) complaining about the shooting on another property I left some guys hunt earlier this year. I almost had to ask, if I get a bunch of hunters to call you and complain about not being able to hunt would that influence you to change your mind. This is the 3rd or 4th property now that I've been denied or lost access to to because of people complaining about hearing gunshots.

Wait 'til they put in the Commerce Connector, think a lot of people will lose some spots. : (
Seriously, I invest my last raise and my last pseudo raise every month into a mutual fund that I call my land acquisition fund; this fund will eventually allow me to purchase my own hunting property for use later in life 'cause sprawl is eating up our huntable lands. Of course, the land I acquire will be put into eternal trust, so the greedy developers will never be able to develop it. If you can drive a used car instead of a brand-new one or make a similar sacrifice now, I'd suggest we all save up some cash and get some land before it's all gone.

I hope it's got a big lake on it too. Not all is lost I still have a couple properties real close to this one. Now I just need to keep having my dog chase the birds out of the field I can't hunt.

If you had bought that property I told you about earlier this year you would have been covered up in deer this coming weekend and only a very short drive from some decent, underutilized waterfowl hunting areas. I would have even volunteered to manage both the bucks and the ducks for you while you weren't around for free too! ;D

I bet you would, mbogo...
It's amazing how much land has gone up just since I've been looking. Shoot, that crappy tract I looked at in Crawford County sold, no doubt a function of the new casino. : (

That doesn't surprise me much about the land. You wouldn't believe how busy the casino has been so far!

That casino is going to eat up a lot of good deer ground.

Got a spot crawling with divers, and hoody mergs. lots of geese too. The local relatives say shoot all ya want, but ya gotta check with the power of attourney... the owener suffered a stroke three yerars ago. his daughter controls things from Cincinnati. We are 200 miles away, and anything involving hunting gets a flat NO. The local relatives are sick of all the goose poop all over the yard and farm, yet nothing can do anything while crabby in cincy says NO. I've shot so many birds from that pond before- its a shame. The old guy that lived there loved to have me stop and just talk to him. I'd be an hour late coming home from tennis practice because I would drive by and see him in the yard. It's a shame to see ground go unused. especially with redheads, scaup, and hoodie mergs sitting on the water
