Travis decided to drop on it about a half hr before shooting time so we set up in my backyard (I know you city guys are jealous ;D). Before I even had my gun loaded two geese came in between my house and my barn, Travis got untangled from his gun and dropped one of them. A few minutes passed, a group of 8 came in Travis filled his limit. Then a couple more came in, and a loner here and there. In the meantime I was struggling connect and went through quite a few shells before finally throwing in the towel and calling it a day. Travis killed 2 geese, I killed none (not for lack of effort or birds). If I could shoot we'd have had a 2 man goose limit w/in 30 min. We didn't see any ducks which was suprising. My dog Daisy (the dog from Duff) got her first action ever from Travis' birds. She chased down a crippled bird and the one that wouldn't stay dead (a few times). Now I will go try to straighten the barrel on my gun.

I didnt get any pics during the hunt but here is the hole that produced the birds today. Keep in mind the "pond" is outlined in cattails. The rest of the yard has disappeared

Twas an awful day for man and beast.... Tom's pond was white capping and I don't think even the largest of ocean going vessels would have survived on the swales it was producing! I think Tom caught what I had yesterday, hopefully whatever it was that I had is gone for good so I can keep killing birds! Art, you would have been proud...a limit in 3 shells. I know, you think I'm paying Tom huge sums of cash to confirm my story but it's true. It must have been that I was in such awe to be hunting with a waterfowling legend such as yourself!
This morning was beyond the crappy weather that waterfowlers love........it was brutal! I've never hunted in something as bad as it was, but hey.....we saw geese and managed to kill some to boot! Well worth getting up at 5am for!
Good hunt Tom..........Daisy did a nice job this morning! Hopefully next time the winds are only 30mph instead of 50!!!! LOL.

Hopefully whatever it was that Travis had yesterday and gave to me today will disappear soon. I cant afford to shoot that many shells and come home empty handed.
I just talked to my brother inlaw who's hunting in IL right now. Out of 4 guys they have 19 ducks. Mallards, mergansers, buffleheads, gadwalls, and a black duck.

BRUTAL is a understatement, and I love nasty weather. Hunted till 1:30 today. Came home with nothing but a big goose egg. And I was guessing this to be a peak movement day. I guess the ducks are not as crazy as I. We did see some, but nothing like what I was expecting. None would commit.

You lasted a heck of a long time Pigeon......Tom and I shut it down a little before 10am....of course, when you got your limit already, no real reason to stay out there. LOL.
Hey....we all froze, but at least we were out there!!!! We're more dedicated than these other hacks that only come out when it's above 40 with a 7mph wind. LOL
