Figured the varmint and coyote guys would be the best to ask for this one. considering buying a .223 for some bench shooting but also to double as a yote gun. Met a guy in my area that says he wants some coyotes cleared out. I've been researching "budget" 223s and I've seen the Stevens 200 and Savage 110. Just wondering if anyone had good or bad things to say about em. I would like to be able to make it "my own" with a custom painted stock or maybe laminate stock. chime in with opinions if ya got em!

No first hand experience with either model but I have heard good things on the Savage. Something to consider, if you think you may ever have the opportunity to hunt deer in a rifle state you might want to consider a .243 as it can be a dual purpose caliber.

Buy a Savage Axis either in camo or blk. and have it dipped to what ever color scheme you want.

Hard to beat a Remington 700. I like good old walnut stocks, laminate stocks are a bit heavier, and probably just my age, but I'm tired of black stocked rifles.
Just saw an add, Marlin has a new .223 bolt gun that uses AR style magazines and has a Savage type trigger. Add showed a laminate stocked version. This gun has me a little interested.

If you ever want to change the barrel on it, you can change a barrel on a Savage yourself without too much trouble.

I think it's hard to match the value you would get in a Savage Axis. As HuntMeister said, I would also consider one in .243 unless you already have something in a more commonly accepted deer caliber.
