I want to put out a salt block but I'm unsure how much clean up is needed after I remove it. Thanks for your time.

Here is the problem with putting out a salt block. When the block gets rained on, the salt is then transferred into the soil. Therefore, the administrative rule below states that the soil must also be removed. The soil removal is dependent on the amount of soil that became effected from the salt block. If you remove the block and the deer still return and 'paw' or dig into the soil in an attempt to get to the salt then the soil is still effected. It is a very difficult judgement call on the hunter. If you feel the need to place salt blocks throughout your hunting area, please ensure that the removal is complete to include probably more soil than one would think.
312 IAC 9-3-2 General requirements and licenses for hunting deer (x) An area is considered baited for ten (10) days after the removal of the bait and the baited soil.
