While tracking a wounded deer at night, are you allowed to carry your hunting firearm with you? And are you allowed to put a finishing shot on the wounded animal if needed?

There is nothing in Indiana Code or Indiana Administrative Code that restricts the hours you are allowed to possess a firearm. However, neither the Indiana Code or Indiana Administrative Code allow for exceptions to hunting before or after the legal shooting hours established for a species.
Our officers use sound judgement in the enforcement of the IC and IAC. I do not believe that anyones intent is for an animal to suffer more than is necessary. If you realize that you may be in this situation, contact your local officer for guidance and direction.
