The landowner can treat the vegetation without a permit from the DNR as long as the vegetation to be controlled is in the immediate vicinity of a boat landing or beach or adjacent to the property and the area being treated does not exceed 25 feet along the legally established shoreline, the water depth is 6 feet or less, and the total surface area treated is no more than 625 square feet. Otherwise, an aquatic vegetation control permit is required.
