1). What are the regs to using a dog to track a wounded deer here in Indiana? Given that the deer stays on the property that you have permission to hunt on, or is on public ground.
2) Is it legal to shoot the deer (if during legal shooting hours and with legal hunting equipment for that season/license) if the deer is found and is still alive?
3) Does the dog handler have to have a valid unfilled deer tag or will a regular hunting license suffice? (if the handler is not carrying a weapon).

1) An individual may only use a dog while it is on a leash for the purpose of tracking the deer.
2) Yes. The humane taking of deer is the intent of the statute and laws.
3) He would need to have a deer license unless he has already filled his tag. By utilizing the dog, he is actively participating in the hunt.
