I hunt a large piece of property for where I live I have sole hunting permission from the owner tonight I caught someone on there who had shot a deer with only a 1 inch ribbon of orange around his head I told he was tresspassing and he said the neighbors gave him permission but it is not thiers to give I the details of my arrangement with the owner and told him only the owner can give permissionand told him I never wanna see him there again. What steps should I take if I do see him hunting there again so that he does in trouble and that he stops going there. I have informed the owner and he said I should handle it.
me and the owner are very close friends and have been for many years

The landowner is the only person who can have charges filed for hunting without consent or trespassing. My recommendation is to have the owner write a letter that states what property he/she owns, who has permission to hunt the property, and that they wish for any other person to be prosecuted for trespassing and/or hunting without consent. Once this letter is written and signed by the landowner, provide a copy to the local Conservation Officer, if time allows, and call our Central dispatch at 8128379536 to have an officer respond to the property when someone is observed there illegally. If the letter is not written by your next encounter, you can still contact our Central Dispatch. Any information you can provide the officer to assist in identifying the person (vehicle description, plate number, ect) would be extremely beneficial. The officer can then get with the landowner on how to proceed. Keep in mind that you are NOT the landowner and limited on what you are able to do. You cannot keep the person from leaving. (Not saying you do not understand these last two points but just wanted to reiterate to ensure you do not do something that could get you in trouble. I have seen it happen. If you are in the right, stay in the right.) Let me know if you have any additional questions.
