Is their a law stating how far you have to be off a county road to legally to deer hunt with a firearm? I have one stand approx 50 yards off the road and have often wondered if a person would be in violation if they hunted out of that stand during gun season.

you cannot discharge a firearm from or into a public roadway or that roads right of way. the right of way varies depending on the road. Indiana does not have a set distance that a right of way is required to be. A good rule of thumb (although not 100% accurate) the utility poles are typically at the outer edge of the roads right of way. You can check at the county surveyors office to learn exactly what the right of way is for the particular road.
