Putting up your fur would raise the price some.

At stand alone fur buyers I have gotten more for whole coon the last few years than fur. At auction the average went up $1 to $2 for put up fur.
Look at trapping as a recreation and not as a money making event and enjoy the time in nature. Trapping for profits has all but disappeared.

Really? My buyer, Allan Miller has been in business probably 30+ years. As has Max Dull.

Decatur , I bet you ask them about buying around the late 80's early 90's and I bet they didn't buy coon. coon were selling for $1 if you could find a buyer lot's of buyers went bankrupt during that time

I don't mean to be contrary Lonnie, but I was selling to Allan then. The only coon I ever saw him refuse was when they were chewed to hell by dogs. I guess the market is different all over the state.

I'd have to agree with lonnie...and I don't believe it was a regional issue....fur buyers were going broke....thats when the big decline in buyers/prices started

It was in 86 or 87 when the stock market crashed that many of the fly-by-night fur buyers went belly up. There are several that had and still buy fur and make prety good income.
