I just got a good deal on a .223 bolt rifle and plan to try taking a coyote this season. I don't reload, anyone have a suggestion on what factory ammunition might be a good place to start.
Thanks, Reese

For factory loaded .223 ammo I've been buying the Remington 50 grainers in the 40 round value packs. I've found them at WalMart for $17.50 per box. I've shot coyotes with them from my AR and also with the same bullet in .22-250 and they work well on coyotes. Sportsmans warehouse also carries them but when I was there yesterday they had been bought out of it in .223. I also like the Federal Premium load shooting the 55 grain Sierra Game King BTHP. They are quite a bit more expensive than the value packs though. The Blackhills reman 52 grain match load in .223 also works very well on coyotes, as does the Winchester whitebox 45 grain HP's. Both of these factory loads have become hard to find, and more expensive, over the past year. Last I saw of the Blackhills were at Gander Mountain. They were priced at $24.95 for a box of 50.
Good hunting.. Coyote 6974

I put the smackdown at 200 yards on a coyote last Sat. afternoon with a honady 40 grain V- Max She did not go 3 yards. I got them at Bass pro for around $17 a box of 20.

Thanks for the advice, I 'll try to get the range after work tomorrow, if I can see through the white stuff that is. During the deer season I seen no less than three different Coyotes , so I know they are on the farm. I've never tried this before and I heard it's not all that easy, But I'm going to give it a try anyway.
