Checking to see if anyone had any thoughts on night vision for hunting yotes. Thought about putting one on my AR-15 for early morning and later in the evening. will swap out during the day with my 22-250.

Got a real cheap deer stand at Rural King for 45.00 and sitting in the same spot. that way I don't get backed doored. Real cool thing to have. E-Bay

Got a brand new Newcon DN-140M for the grand total of 356.00. I was looking at ATN 390 and they start at around 550. Save a couple hundred $ buy more ammo.

Interesting, how far do you think you could shoot a coyote at night with that scope?

Took the 1st 2 at about 70 yards and the 3rd out to 120 yds. The good thing is they can't see you either.

Wish I could afford a scope like that, but if I had that much to send might as well go with thermal imaging.

Tenring, I have a friend that tried a similar model and he wasn't satisfied.
Bomonster, are you using that scope at night.... or in the mornings and evenings? What kind of infrared are you running?

nite and 1 the next morning around 5:45 am. I would say it is still dark. Just remember you still need a continuous burning night when hunting at night.

JRB, I'm using the scope just after sunset for a couple of hrs. and from about 5am till about 1/2 hr. before sun up . Then I switch to a day scope I have on my Rem.700. I have the night vision on my Bushmaster AR-15. I totally happy with the scope and the price was rite. had $ lrft over for some more ammo, since the price is going thru the roof.

What type of IR light are you using?

The dN-140 comes with a self contained IR. The scope it's self in a Gen.1

nite and 1 the next morning around 5:45 am. I would say it is still dark. Just remember you still need a continuous burning night when hunting at night. Define dark. It was brighter when I killed a coyote at 4a.m. this morning than it was when I dumped one at 10a.m. on Saturday. Moon phase and cloud cover play a vital role in low-end night vision equipment. It's been cloudy here, clear there, and occasional snowcover available. However, we haven't had a 5:45a.m. moon since bomonster purchased his Gen1 scope. I've never seen one of those scope/IR combos that could identify a coyote from a horse at 70 yards in that type of darkness. Sounds like you've got a keeper.

Moon was out al nite last 2 days and didn't even need one . Heavy cloud cover at whatever time you want during the nite and this thing works. And yes you can tell and read the letters at 100 yards on my craftsman mower, but whatever I'm having a good time and thats all that matters isn't it.

Just for the sake of accuracy, The moon hasn't been out all night... it's been setting in the wee-hours. It's been darker than crap once that moon goes down! Yes having fun is what it's all about, but I've never had much luck with Craftsman mowers either.

Yeah but that Craftsman makes a heck of a target. What type of scope you got on that "EBG" Nice looking group of yotes you got there.
