I have had something digging my dirt holes out and keep piling it over the trap. I readjusted the trap and yesterday and this morning had a large red fox. I see him occasionally in our yard and know where he stays but the traps are quite aways. I turned him loose with the aid of a release pole. Unfortunately I was so excited it wasn't till he hopped over into the brush that I thought about taking a picture. I use offset mb 550 and there was little damage. With fur prices down and there numbers around here down I didn't see the need to harvest. I did manage one muskrat today but was rather disappointed as I set 14 traps on some really good sign and a new pond and creek section. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

I caught two last year but was only able to release one. Definitely a better approach with the release pole this time. Last time was quite comical and about resulted in a released release pole if you know what I mean. I

I can't tell you the last time I saw a grey fox. They used to be common in the 80s around my house. There are a few reds. I caught two last year and my friend caught three off his farm. They were released if able to. I see a few but they are not near as common as coyotes. If the coyote population is somewhat controlled as it is around hear lately their numbers increase. I have read on trapperman that most believe the mange spread by coyotes are what hurts the foxes as they are not able to survive harsh tips with the mange as a Coyote can. I am hoping to at least have a decent population some day. They are neat to watch when young.
