My trail camera at home is mostly coons. I trapped 13 last season and my neighbor 11. I still think there are that many left. I think there are more coons than mice. They're like insects anymore; they just keep coming.

As long as you have that many Raccoons don't expect to see your game bird and turkey populations increase.
My wife and I enjoy wild game birds and fowl a lot more than we do raccoon.

Treydog went to the bottom-land stand in the dark for the first time today. Like me, he has a vivid imagination, so his mind was playing tricks on him. Strange noises and glowing eyes were enough to almost turn him around to go back to the truck.
He said he had twenty eyes looking at him, and they belonged to 10 coons not pigmen wanting to eat him. We'll get those coons in about 6 weeks when our deer tags are full.

I'm thinking about setting some traps tomorrow. It's about time to weed those critters out. I'm thinking that there is no possibility of eradicating them on 10ac. LOL
I've changed my opinion on the coons. Last year, I didn't want kill them without someone eating them, but... times have changed.

I grew up coon hunting. I loved it, hearing the night noises, listening to the dogs cut a hot track and tree, sitting in the truck on a cold night with the windows down eating balogna sandwiches and drinking grape soda and hot chocolate.
I don't have enough time now, or places to hunt, to justify keeping hounds. I do think I may try to call some at night sometime soon though. I don't expect it to be the same as hunting with the dogs, but should be fun anyway.
