Boat Title

I bought a boat from my brother-in-law and when we bought it from him he didn't have a title for it being he purchased it from someone at a yard sale. Now I am wanting to sell it as well without the title, however I would like to get one so it would be legit. There is an aluminum tag on the back of it, but it is so worn that I can't make out any Hull Identification Numbers.

Along the side of it at one time it was registered in Indiana, is there a way to trace down the Hull Identification Number thru that registration number? I didn't get it registered being it was used on my private lake. Any help getting this straightened out would be a blessing. Thanks and god bless.

The best place to start would be to contact your local officer. They can be reached at our Central Dispatch 8128379536. The officer can attempt to read the HIN number, verify it is illegible, and request a search through the BMV records of the registration number to obtain the HIN number.
