No waiting...now or never....shoot or don't shoot. If you're shooting, then tell us where you are aiming. The deer is 30 yards. The black line through the deer is supposed to be another stick. You have ranged the sticks with a range finder and they are 15 yards.

I would place my 30 yard pin directly on the branch to drop it in to the second red dot covered by the branch.
I practice this shot from a tree in my backyard. I did it accidentally, but I trimmed some branches from the tree I hung my practice stand in, and there was a branch still in the way coming from a neighboring tree. I had read somewhere that you should know where your arrow is going to be in its arc at all distances on a "long" shot in order to avoid all twigs in the site window. I placed a target at 40 yards and found I was placing my 40 yard pin directly onto the branch that was 15 yards in front of me. The arrow arced nicely over the branch directly into the vitals on my target. With my particular bow, if the branch was 5 yards in front of me my arrow would make contact with the branch on its rise in its arc.
The point of the thread was to get people to thinking about where their arrow is going to be in its arc at different yardages on its way to the target.
A super fast bow might actually be a detriment in this situation. A really slow bow might put the arrow into the top branch.
Concerning the pic in the original post.....In all actuality I'm really a dumb arse for not clearing my shooting lanes properly. This situation wouldn't happen if I had taken the time to hang my stand and clear my lanes properly. Stuff happens however, and it's good to practice for such situations.

Nope, too much in my way, even if my arrow will clear it. Since it is now or never, this buck walks away. It's not that a good shot isn't present, but, I wouldn't have the confidence I like to let one loose. I liked the thread BTW danb. Good Hunting, Hoosier.

Shoot I take the middle left black dot as my aiming point. I have processed too many deer and there is a no bone area in this region and drills the lungs and main artery from the heart to the lungs. Plus it looks like snow on the ground and makes for easier tracking.
