No coons yet after two day of trapping. I think they may have migrated when I stopped feeding the deer.
I bet they come back when I start feeding my turkeys.

next warm up you will get some. Don't spend all those pretty pennies in on place when you get them😉
I would soft tan the furs this year and keep them for yourself. I like beaver, mink and rat pelts best though. Much softer.
I want to set some traps for beaver. I had close calls with a few over the years but never ended up with one in my boat.

I did notice last year that on a warmer night, I'd catch some.

Warm night with a honey bun in a 5 gallon bucket with a 220 over the entrance and you will have you a coon. And anywhere from .50 cents to a dollar.

LOL, 50 cents, this is why I have so many of those turkey egg eating critters. Yep, I probably won't get any until this weekend. I had trouble finding my traps today. I put out a flag marker, but they are white.

I did that for several years just to learn and prove that I could do it. Fun times but takes too much of my time now. Have not set a line in 10 yrs.

My work, family, racing and daughters barrel horses take care of most if not all of my time. Last couple years have done some beaver removal for a couple farmers. Still a good time and a lot of fun.

Way to go! The first of many I'm sure. Great to see her out there with you. She's out of school for a few weeks and off work today, so she went with me. She has to take photos, lots of photos. I have a lot of fun with her. She thinks I should build another tower in the bottom land instead of moving the hilton. I guess I will. Of course, she says that she'll help me. I'm hoping she has a boyfriend by then and he can help me.

I got another male coon today and an opossum. This makes 5 turkey egg eating critters that won't be around next spring. I need to catch some baby making machines. I missed one last year, and she had 3 or 4 babies that were eating my corn.
I think Christmas Eve, I'll put out traps for coyotes and that fox. I got a photo of two coyotes; this is the first time that I've seen two in the four seasons that I've put out cameras.

We had two coons in traps when my daughter went with me. She said, "They're so cute."
I said, "I'm not shooting them because they're ugly."
Man, they just keep coming like insects. I struggled killing them the first year without someone eating them, but now, I see it as a necessity for my turkey population to thrive. If I get too many turkeys, I'll just invite some friends over.
I wouldn't have this problem if the liberals hadn't created a stigma on wearing furs. The Russians don't seem to think this way or we wouldn't be able to get 50 cents for them.

LOL, I don't think the coons got to vote. I do wish more of my neighbors would trap them, but I'll try to pick up the slack. Getting that fox would be a real treat for all my efforts.

Four big male coons and three opossums. I need to catch some of those girls. Hey, this last coon had no tail. It didn't look cut or chewed off. Maybe a little inbreeding going on??? Here he is:

Looks like this week will be good for the turkey egg eating critters.
Hey, some of my turkeys are back. I'm trying to download a video. They look different, but may have split up and regrouped.
