Keep it up. It is a labor of love as there is no real value in trapping these days. I enjoyed learning the skill but liked water trapping better than land trapping. I may try to find a place to chase a beaver or two. I want to trap, skin, and tan my own pelts for some reason. An otter would be a cool by-catch as well.

I'm making pretty good money right now doing beaver control work for Peabody. That is the only way you can make money this year doing nuisance control work for those that are having a critter problem. In about a week or so I got some coyote work to do for a hunting club. I am showing a new kid that started working for us how to trap and he's now ate up with it, which is a good thing. I say a kid he's 23 and until he went with me he's never seen a beaver dam.
The fur market still is looking bleak, but some are saying that next year we should at least be able to sell our fur, so maybe it's starting to look better.

I saw a possum out last night at 7pm CST. Kill that turkey egg eating critter! They do eat a lot of ticks though, so let's not kill them all.

Nothing the past two days. I know there are plenty more out there; they just need to travel a bit.

Good luck on the coons Jon. I've been getting a couple big ones on my trail camera. They need to go away. I had a problem with them messing with our goats and rabbits the last 2 summers. They would dig up worms from the manure and then wash them off in the water buckets. Every morning their water would be black. A couple dog proof traps and some nutter butters yielded over 20 coons and possums out of the yard each summer. I couldn't believe how many there were. I kept setting the traps until I quit catching them. I thought I only had 2 or 3 doing the damage.
I didn't know they were hurting our turkey population. I've noticed our numbers have been down lately.
I like to hit old golf balls into the field and woods behind my parents house. I pick some up when I'm shed hunting or tracking deer in the area. They are usually chewed up and covered in teeth marks. I guess the raccoons think they are turkey eggs and try to eat them.

I've been using cat food, but think I might try some marshmallows and nutter butters.

I've been using cat food, but think I might try some marshmallows and nutter butters. One of these lasted me a summer of yard trapping. One mini nutter butter will fit under the trigger on the dog proof traps. I would pull another one apart and stick it to the rim of the trap. Works great. One time a coon broke the screw that I had holding the trap to my post. He took off with the trap still on its leg. A week later I caught the same coon in the same set up. He had chewed his leg off to get rid of the trap.

Two more coons today. That makes 6 and 4 opossums.
I took some photos of the den that something is living in; I post them later. I set another foot trap and snare and two more cameras today.

I put out two cameras for my fox den. I forgot to turn one on and the other one had dead batteries. I'm old. Can't blame the fat or handicap on this one.

I bet there are more out there that need trapped. How big are the possums you are catching? Most of the ones I've caught have been smaller but 2 of them were trophy size.

Nothing the past two days, but did hear the coyotes singing on my food plot video. They were going at it around 10:15.

Had a double today on coyotes. Funny it has been rather slow and then all of a sudden they move thru. One was really rubbed but the other was one of the nicest ones I have caught.

I have a coyote skull soaking in peroxide right now. I'll be posting it in a few days. That old dog didn't have much left for teeth. I've never seen a skull like that before.
