Well after a very slow start things have quickly picked up. This female made number 10 last night and I reached my goal that I set. I have caught three this week so far. They have definitely been a little sporadic as I had a week with 4 including a double on the two snares I had out. Fur while not worth much has been very good as I have one that was early and rather mousey and one that was rubbed bad. It is amazing how you can't thin them as this makes roughly 30 here and 40 total within a 1/2 mi of our farm in the last 3 yrs. While I don't see them as much as I used to, they are still around

It definitely has a learning curve but still a lot about luck. Trapping will make you a better hunter at least a better scout. This year has been really tough with all the rain and warmer temps. I have been trying some different sets though with luck and my friend even got one in an old tire with lure inside it with trap buried inside tire. It is used to trap pasture areas with cattle. Never thought it would work but it did.

Back when I used to trap my uncle taught me to stick a hay bale out in the field with fox/coyote pee on the corners with traps set. Anything that sticks out in an open field they will eventually start using to mark the area. Never thought of using a tire but I guess it's the same principal lol

Its intention is to keep cattle from messing with traps. They won't step inside tire and the coyotes will scent check it. However when I was little my grandfather had a steer stick his head thru an old tire. Took several guys to get it off. Rather funny.
