Waterfowl hunting public waterways

Hello, 

What are the rules regarding hunting public waterways (rivers, lakes)? Can I set up a boat on the river or lake as long as I am not beached on shore and away from houses?

You may hunt a river as long as you are between the normal high water marks. Anything above these marks is private property and you must have permission from the land owner. If it is a DNR property, you will need to check the specific details for the lake you are wanting to hunt. If it is private property, you must have permission from the landowner,
