I thought I was done with season prep but, decided to go to my permission piece next to Jasper/Pulaski. I don't do much here because two others hunt this farm as well. We all give each other access to our blinds/stands, share pics, communicate and share the property well. However, the three of us do tend to stick to our own sections. One of the guys will bring his young son out from time to time and if I'm not there, they'll jump into my ground blind.
I put out an Ameristep ground blind and trimmed a trail to it from the ag field. I made a mock scrape with a licking branch above it at two of the intersecting trails and put a trail cam out.
I had my ground blind on the field edge on the farm last year but, didn't see much nor did my camera pick up much. I moved deeper into the timber this time. I found a few nice intersecting trails, old rubs and lots of acorns. Lots of turkey sign here too.

Good deal esshup. They are sold out on lots of stuff. I learned to order in July from them. It was supposed to be delivered today. Now it's Tuesday. UPS.

Family friend and forum member came up to help bait bear for a couple weeks. He just went home this morning and took a couple of my cell cameras back to hang up for me. I plan to come down and hunt the second week of archery, then with Indiana's late firearm opener on the 18th, Minnesota's firearm season ending on the 19th, I'm going to try and come back down for two weeks of your firearm season. Should be a fun season for me.

I went out and helped my buddy on the new permission farm this evening. It's already for deer hunting. We checked his cams and saw a couple dandy's. One is hard horned as of a week ago. We made a few mock scrapes with branches and vines too. All three of his ropes have been getting a lot of action as well.

I did a lot of crossbow shooting. Both 20 and 30 yards dialed in. Tomorrow 40 to 50 yards. That will be it. The drop per range finder is 15.7 inches. Close to stand shooting angle.

Abbie is ready with her new Creedmoor. It was squeaky clean, so it took a few shots to foul in and I still made some scope adjustments during that time. Last shot was dead center. Then she shot a few water bottles and a milk jug. Thought I had a pic of her holding the rifle when I gave it to her, but I can't find it. Internet pic of the rifle is below. She did ALL the shooting and every shot she took was either at that target or at the water bottles and milk jug.

I just finished breaking in/sighting in my new Creedmoor last weekend with zero at 200 yds.

I chose the Ruger American Predator 6.5 Creedmoor when I won that NWTF raffle back in February. I plan to do more coyote hunting this year after deer season with it.

She has a 3-12x Sig Buckmasters on it as well as the Buckmasters rangefinder that will tell her what holdover to use on long shots. We need to get her somewhere I can set targets from 150-300 yards and let her use the rangefinder to see if it works correctly. Only problem is that probably won't be doable until crops are picked.

Really enjoy following this site. I just got back from a few days at the cabin, laid Pop to rest behind the cabin. Got to do a little work up in the Woods, hired a guy down the road to come in and bush hog the logging roads and landings. Not going to get any plots planted, but next year will be different. Enjoyed being back home a few days and the time spent at the cabin. Working is peace down there. Flying in this year, get there on the 16th, so will have a couple days before season to see how things are moving. Keep all these good posts coming in. Wish you all many blessings and luck coming up...SF Woody
