Is there anywhere in indiana that you can hunt pigs? All the Google searching in the world doesn’t turn up much. Or Ohio or Kentucky? I’d like to find somewhere that had public lands that can be hunted for wild pigs. This might not be the right section for this.

I doubt there is much of a population of feral pigs here yet. Not saying there are none. Never seen one wild in north central indiana.

I don't know where to go near here for a public land hunt for piggies.

Give me a few months, and I can turn a few loose in our woods. Only $2,500 for lodging and pig fee! 🤓

Used to be a high fence in Michigan, a few of us went there MANY years ago, I believe Uncle Ted took the place over.

That place looks pretty cool! I’ll keep It in mind if I don’t find a DIY. The 2nd year or 3rd year I went there, all they said was "Here's the key to the truck, you know to shut the gates behind you, you know where to look, call us when you get one down." My buddies and I like to still hunt for them, so that's what we did. If we needed our hands held, they would have been more than happy to do that, but we didn't need that. You could sit in a blind and watch an area, still hunt or they'd break out the dogs and run the dogs. The thing that we didn't like about the dogs was that if they got a pig bayed, we had to take that pig because they couldn't call the dogs off of it. By sitting in a blind or doing a still hunt we could find one that we wanted and pass on ones that we didn't. They might not be 100% Russian boars, but they were for sure feral pigs. We saw one that easily went 500+ pounds after we had shot ours. We told the owner and he said Bulls..., there isn't one in the enclosure that is that big. You guys couldn't have seen one that big. The next year when we went down he apologized to us. Seems that a deer hunter that was there for deer season shot one that was close to 700 pounds. The head was there at the taxidermist when we were there. He said he had absolutely no idea that one was that big and he has no idea how it evaded the dogs to grow that big. It was HUGE and my buddy and I both looked at each other when we saw it and said if we shoot it we have no place to put the meat because we already had 2 large ones on the ground. I forget how many miles of fencing he has, but you can make the hunt as hard or as easy as you want. There are baited areas that have ladder stands, or box blinds that overlooked fields or just still hunt thru the woods. The trick we found out was to go down in the Spring just a week or two before the trees were starting to bud out. Warm enough that we weren't cold, but cool enough that the bugs weren't out, and minimal vegetation so we could still see a distance through the woods. This was right as the Redbud trees were starting to begin to bloom in Southern Indiana. They have a minimum caliber to use, I just used my .50 cal Savage muzzleloader and used either a 300 or 350 grain Barnes Bullet. One guy from the group that elected to have the dogs run the hogs had shot his the day before and went with another group that was going out with the dogs to get some pictures. He ended up having to climb a tree because of an aggressive boar.

Man that sounds pretty good. When I was stationed in Hawaii I made friends with some locals and caught a pig with a lasso and killed it with a buck knife. Ended up getting a tusk in my forearm. I know Indiana doesn’t have the numbers so I never even considered going anywhere else. But now that I’m getting older, I’d like to venture out more.

Go down south. Hunting those farm raised pigs in the high fence is ridiculous. They have tags in their ears. 8 hour drive to Georgia.

Before I really got into real hog hunting I went to Tennessee to Ken moodys high fence in 2007. What a joke! HogSwat in Georgia is my favorite. Scan the fields with thermal. They provide you the AR equipped with a silencer & top of the line thermal scope.

We spotted a group of about 30 feeding in a field with the thermal so we made a long stalk & got really close. Count down 3-2-1 fire so you & whoever your with shoot at the same time. Make sure the first one is down then start unloading on running pigs.

Nothing much here in Indiana. It's mostly down south. Although I do believe that the DNR allows hunters to kill and report any wild hogs they see. We at least have to report them.
I've hunted high fence ram in Tennessee. We went and observed their hogs afterwards. Other than the razorbacks, those things are jokes! Majority of them were obviously fat half domestics.
I have done hog hunting in Georgia, and hog eradication in Louisiana. It's a lot of fun. All you have to do is have a general hunting license, no limit on the pigs and no daily time limit. They are pests and those farmers want them out of their fields. In Georgia (the second time we went there) we hunted with this guy who has a huge property that he uses for hunting. The first time I went to Georgia we hunted with a different group, Twisted String TV (not sure if they are still going, nor if our 2016 hog hunt was aired).
The last time we were planning on going hog hunting it was actually going to be with a neighbor of the guy that we hunted with the first time. But things fell through...
In Louisiana we were with Rougarou Hog Control. This is a great group to hunt with. We did a lot of spotting from the roadway and driving around the fields. It sure is fun when you get to sneak up on the hogs and line up wit your ARs and thermal Scopes all waiting for the command to fire, then when the command comes all craziness and noise breaks lose!
Georgia and Louisiana are some of best hog hunting states, not forgetting Texas and I believe Alabama as well. Rougarou Hog Control was the best group we hunted with, very nice guys and are careful to take all measures to make sure everyone stays safe and that no one gets in trouble with the police. Because yea, one night we were there the guy in charge forgot to let dispatch know we were out.... Police came by looking for "aliens with green lights in a field!" Well someone saw the hunting truck with it's green lights on scanning for hogs in a field in the suburbs right next to the highway!

Looks like Twisted String TV didn't last very long. We were there in 2016, which seems to have been their year. I looked them up just now and all I found was their Facebook page that hasn't had any posts since 2016. If I remember right they were having some trouble even when we went that spring.
