That does look interesting and really wonder how well it works. Hard for me to quit using the soresto collars on all our animals as it’s the only thing we have found that actually works.

Bringing our Chocolate home next month with us for the 2 weeks. Last year when Pop passed we had her on an oil based one, can't remember the name of it now, but that didn't work. will need to look that up. Just got her bloodwork back, we were gonna get her something for all three. How is heartworm back there? Do I need to worry about that one? That's why we had to check her bloodwork. Whichever my wife was thinking it included heartworm. Thanks, SF Woody

wsky70, great looking lab! Yes, you have to worry about heartworm too. I have mine on K9 Advantix II and Heartguard.

Thank you both, That is Powder. She loved the cabin last time we took her for Pops passing, but she was only 5 months then, she's 15 months now and 86 pounds. Heartguard is what the wife was looking to put her on for this trip. Wife looked it up last time and it was Revolt, stuff didn't work at all, pretty sure she is talking about K9 Advantix also. Last day we went by a pet store and gave her a flee and tick bath before we started driving home...SF Woody

Im a fan of seresto collars, I cut them into 6 inch strips and rivet them on the inside of each dogs regular collar. I've never seen a flea on one of my dogs up here where I live. Also I've never, nor has my vet ever seen a dog in our area have heartworm. He feels it is because the larva cannot develop because the temperatures get to cold during the summer nights. I still treat once a month with ivermectin because I have client dogs coming in from southern states.

I have to re-rivet a brass name tag on a nylon collar and that idea with seresto is a good one.

Copper double capped rivets, dont try smashing the rivets to flat or you will smash them thru the seresto collars. Another reason I do it this way is that while competing the dog must not be wearing any kind of collar, and those seresto's can be difficult to put on and off. Also I can use one collar for two dogs by cutting it in half.

We give our pup Simparaca Works awesome. No issues and he’s tick free 700, is that the Simparica TRIO you use? Or another one? My wife looked up the trio and it does flees, ticks, heartworm, roundworm and Hookworm. Gonna double this up with a Soresto Collar as well I think. Thanks, SF Woody

When it’s time to replace I cut the rivets with side snips. Our tick/dog training season is only 5 -6 months so yes they last long enough for me.

When I used to run hounds and had a yard of 20 or more I used Purple Python cattle ear tags to keep the ticks off them. I would fold the ear tag over their collar like a taco and zip tie them together.
