Well friends in all the years I have hunted my private land someone finally went out and stoled me and my 10 year old daughters double ladder stand. Went out to check on my stands and to my astonishment our stand was missing from the tree. They did leave the hooks we hang our backpacks from (real nice of them). My daughter is distraught considering her mom and me both been laid off for a while during the summer I can't go out and buy another one until tax check time. Any ways looks like we will be ground hunting together this year thanks to some idiots who like to steal from someone on there own property.
By the way this post is not intended for sympathy in attempt to get someone to give us a stand, just venting my anger to fellow hunters.

I would be MORE than happy to donate one of our double stands..my friend. Not giving sympathy, but would hate to see your daughter ground pounding this season. My daughter loves sitting up there even if we don't see any deer.

There's a thief in every crowd..shouldn't be too hard to figure who done it..stat with young teenagers with a ATV 4-wheeler. They'd most likely need one to haul a ladder stand out of the woods..most times it's young kids...ask around.

Yeah my daughter and me play a game to help kill the time by coutning how many birds land on our tree and seeing how close they come to our stand. We will figure something out...

A way I make it harder for someone to steal my ladder stands is to put the stand together and then drill a hole in each section at the joint, then use a long shank bicycle lock so the sections wont come apart, then a lock and chain around the tree. It wont stop thieves with bolt cutters but will make it hard for someone to take it down and apart. If they steal it they have to carry it out all put together. h.h.

And what did the sheriff have to say? Sheriff was not necessary. I handled it in a much better way than the sheriff ever could.......

I had a great Ladder Stand stolen back in 1985, in a woods that was across the road from my former home, in Northern Vanderburgh County. Had it padlocked too, but they got it anyway.

What bugs me the most is that we always refer to that stand as my daughters stand since that is the only one she can hunt with me out of, so she feels like it was stolen from her. That TICKS me off more than anything, the fact that she feels the way she does.

Stick a deercam up high in a tree facing down at your treestand...set up another one and lure em in...get their picture. Make sure to camo the camera real well up high in the fork of a tree where they'd never think a camera may be. Aim it at the treestand..I've heard of guys catching thiefs this way...

Locating Stolen Trail Cams Something to try if you're worried about your cam. You can load 3 cam cards (or ipod, MP3, etc) for free. When a thief plugs in your card to check it, you get sent an email and can track them down. www.ihoundsoftware.com/ Your Device Is Located You will know where your device is at all times via iHound™ Software's "Device Tracker". See your device's location on a map and "Get your digital life back". You're Alerted Instantly iHound™ Software will alert you via email as soon as someone else tries to connect your device to a computer. You Can Print a Report Once your device has been located, you can print a report for the authorities that contains your device's information as well as the location where your device has been tracked.

I feel your pain! I have plenty of stands stolen over the years but the real kick in the rear was last year when someone took My bow from My pole barn.

I've always hated a thief! I had one stolen about 10 years ago!

This is the reason I have never bought a ladder stand or a trail camera. I don't want to take the chance of having them stolen.

You haven't bought a camera or ladderstand becuase of the chance it might get stolen....lol...how about your gun or bow or vehicle for that matter...Not understanding that logic..I'm not gonna let what might potentially happen have that much effect on my life...
I have never had a treestand or camera stolen in 20years hunting..( probably just jinxed myself)...Today they have cameras that will e-mail photos to your phone or computer instantaneously when a picture is taken, so if someone does take the camera you would still have their picture...

It has a happened to us all at some point trust me! I had someone steal 1 tree step last year. Seriously who would steal one tree step, but anyways best of luck finding them. I have a 3 month old daughter and if she decides to hunt and someone steals our stand I would be really ed myself. Still go out and enjoy hunting season don't the scum of the world ruin it for you and your family!
