Good points on both sides. Everything that is happening right now with equality for all and entitlement, idk, maybe not the right message.

I had no idea that this was the case, glad to see it changed. I wonder if those opposed have any children or granchildren?
I see a few recoginizable names, I wonder if they knew their comments would be public?

After reading Joe Bacon's comments I wonder if the youth hunt he puts on is history?

I admire Joe for allowing youths to hunt his land, I am sure he and his partners spend tons of money EACH YEAR so that they will have a nice place to hunt that also holds a good population of deer AND other game.
I am also sure Joe and his group has put added value on the buck population on their lands, it's their land and they are sure free to do anything that is within the law on the ground that they own.
With that said, I sure would understand that IF Joe and his partners allowed another youth hunt on their land, that they ask the kids to shoot antlerless only deer and try not to shoot button bucks.
Joe Bacon has done many positive things for deer hunting in Indiana.......I WOULD FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT JOE WOULD NOT ALLOW A FEW YOUTHS TO HUNT HIS LAND DURING THE YOUTH DEER SEASON, JUST AS LONG AS THE YOUTHS SHOOT ANTLERLESS ONLY.
Land owners have always had the right to ask guest hunters to shoot certain type of animals (antlerless only, Tom turkey only, Canada geese only)......Joe and his partners are land owners and have this right.
For the kids sake, let's keep our fingers crossed Cedar Branch Farms will remain just as friendly to our youth hunters.

BRAVO!!!!! Thanks so much to the guys I know......Woody, Jack, Steve, Rod, et al, who supported this! I don't care WHAT anyone says, to deny a kid the chance to shoot a buck is pure greed on their part that they don't want some snot-nose kid potentially harvesting a buck that THEY might have had a chance. I preach voluntary restraint when duck hunting, trying to only shoot the drakes.....but if a kid is in the blind they shoot anything they have a chance to shoot. You don't take a kid out with nothing but a kiddie pole to only catch bluegill, you let them have a shot at just as big of a fish as an adult can catch. BRAVO to the IDNR for listening to those who have the KIDS interests at mind and not listening to those who feel that THEY own the state's deer population. If a hunt is on an individual's property that only wants does harvested, then that is perfect their right and everyone should respect that wish, but if a kid is hunting somewhere that the owner doesn't mind.......than letting them harvest a buck is they way it should be!
YAY to the kids........ BOOO to those that opposed this rule!

Not a big fan of the fact that a youth who kills a buck cannot kill another later in the year.

Not a big fan of the fact that a youth who kills a buck cannot kill another later in the year. Me neither...but as long as we have the OBR trial in effect I think that is the way it should be. IF it ever goes back to a TBR then I'd say let the kids have two bucks too.
