I just hope it will be that easy. When the sheriff was called about the stolen trail camera, he seemed to know the neighbors............

Reality tells me sometimes you can do more for yourself than the law can do for you. I do not own any purchased tree stands, however, there are 3 different purchased stands on the property I hunt. Nobody has been in them for over 10 years and they are starting to show signs of girdling the trees. Nobody has ever claimed the stands as theirs, what is a person to do in this situation. The laws concerning this appear ignorant and misplaced per this thread.

It would be theft though wouldn't it? no more different then someone coming into your garden and taking all your sweet corn. If it makes the trespassing charge stick then go for it.... BB

A Mushroom Poacher really, I mean Really... is there such a thing? lol ;D Going for at least $20 per pound .... I would say yes. Guy walks into your living room and starts taking $20 bills you left on your end table .... how many would you let him take before doing something about it?

He blocked the guy in and grilled him for several minutes before letting him go, but he made sure the guy understood that he was being watched.

I walked the perimiter of the property with the landowner yesterday, putting up new No Trespassing signs to replace the ones that were tore down. We used 36 of the 40 signs that he bought. We didn't see any tree stands up, nor any footprints. His younger son was picking up railroad spikes and other pieces of steel from the stone that he had put down for the driveway, placing them in a pile on a stump by one of the outbuildings. He had a good sized pile there.
Someone came by within the past 2 weeks and picked up all the steel pieces. While it's not a big financial thing, it's another strike against any trespassers.
During the walk to replace the signs, I noticed a few trees that were rubbed (nothing huge) a scrape, and a couple of areas where two bucks were fighting, pushing each other around. The one neighbor has a corn field next to the woods. There wasn't an ear of corn on any stalk in the first 2 rows, and from what I could see, the 3rd row was pretty well picked over as well. I'm guessing not only deer, but squirrels and coons all had their feed bag on.
