Constitutional protection for hunting? Maybe in KentuckyBy John Cheves — Lexington Herald-Leader Several state lawmakers want constitutional protection for Kentuckians' right to hunt and fish, although they acknowledge that no authority has threatened this right in anyone's memory.A bill calling for a statewide vote on a constitutional amendment was pre-filed for the 2011 General Assembly by House Speaker Greg Stumbo, D-Prestonsburg; Rep. Leslie Combs, D-Pikeville; and Rep. John "Bam" Carney, R-Campbellsville. The legislature convenes Jan. 4. "The citizens of Kentucky have the right to hunt, fish and harvest wildlife, including the use of traditional methods, subject only to statutes enacted by the legislature," the amendment would read, in part. "Public hunting and fishing shall be a preferred means of managing and controlling wildlife." The measure reflects bipartisan concern in Frankfort following President Barack Obama's health-care law and what some people see as overreaching by the federal government, Carney said. The right to own and use guns might be targeted by federal legislation in the future, he said. "We thought it was important that we make a statement here for states' rights," Carney said. "I don't see any imminent threat to our hunting rights at the moment. But an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, as they say." Trying to protect their phoney baloney jobs - the right to hunt and fish is already established via game laws and regulation from the Kentucky fish and game/DNR.

Trying to protect their phoney baloney jobs - the right to hunt and fish is already established via game laws and regulation from the Kentucky fish and game/DNR. It's a simple matter to change a regulation or write a law that supersedes the ones already in the books. Many anti-hunting organizations have pushed their state legislature or governor to do just such a thing. New Jersey hunters for instance just recently regained the right to hunt bears after the past governor was persuaded to prohibit it with a simple stroke of his pen and against the advice of state employed wildlife managers. On the other hand, it's extremely difficult to amend a constitution. That is why many states are going or have already gone the route of writing it into their constitutions. I'd like to see the movement for a constitutional amendment revived here in Indiana now the Pat Baur is no longer speaker of the house.

Hunting and Fishing is a privilege, just like your drivers license. And it was the DNR who convinced Pat Bauer to hold the right to hunt and fish bill from the final vote. Ain't politics wonderful?

Any one know who the scum sucking, back stabbing, low life, bottom feeder in the DNR was that flushed so much work down the drain, that made the phone call to Fat Pat to shelve the last attempt? Anyone who thinks that jerks in the Statehouse can't ruin your favorite pastime, had your television turned off during the legislative shutdown. Control freaks can make it happen. Your drivers license is now your "Federal ID card" under threat to withhold Federal Transportation funds if State BMV's didn't change the requirements to get your license, and the States caved in. Both the Indiana House and Senate over overwhelmingly voted to Amend the State Constitution, but one phone call made it disappear. The beaver never felled a tree with one bite, it takes many over time. Anybody remember Adolf Hitler?

Tenring,
I don't know, but if I might guess, I'd put the finger on Gregg McCollam.
He's a p-ssy who thinks leadership is about doing the politically correct thing. His cover is speaking with a mild-mannered, effeminate voice. His sidekick, Gary Armstrong, has his head up McCollam's rear.
Don't believe me? Go to my last post, open the links, and read of my experiences as their employee. I had opportunity to get close and personal in a way that the great majority of people reading this forum never will.
