Did you read the comment at the bottom? if an article about deer hunting disgusts you, DON'T READ IT.

I agree with the comment - playing a Nintendo DS while hunting is wrong. Leave the electronics at home!

My comment is probably not going to be liked but the girl needs to be taught be awhere of what is behind your target. To me no self respecting hunter would shoot at a deer with one right beside it. At fear of just wounding the second deer. This is a bad article and should not be bragged upon. Seems it is just teaching the young lady to not concern herself beyond what she is intending to shoot. Very unethical.

Im not really trying to offend anyone but why is it that almost everytime there is an article people have to make a comment on how wrong it is or they did it wrong or whatever. If its not your type of hunting or not the way you would do it just move on down to another post that relates to you. I applaud her for gettin out in the woods. Lot better than runnin the streets! Good for you talloaks this kind of support of terrible hunting practices, might someday lead to the hunter shoots slelf after killing life long friend. But I applaud you for standing up and getting on people that point out the bad habits of hunters that may lead to a death. Glad you and her don't hunt near me.

Very unethical. I got to agree with you SP...not a situation that should have occurred or been allowed to happen! About the only time I might try that stunt would be in a feral hog hunt or depredation situation where the goal is to eliminate as many animals as possible...even then it would be with something that had more bang for buck.

Pretty sure I never said I was in favor of how she was huntin. Ya maybe she made a bad decision but what I was sayin there is never a post that goes unattended of at least one negative comment. That's all I was sayin. I've got a boy that hunts and it just tickles me to death to see him out in the woods. Helps keep kids out of trouble and makes a lot of lifelong memories. That's all I was commending her for. Sorry if my post affended you. That's why I started it the way I did.

Here is the reponse to that idiot's comment below the article :
Sweetheart, do you eat meat ? With a comment like that I sure hope you do not and I hope you do not step on the grass because you could and probably are killing ants , bugs and worms, who are "helpless" creatures also. And you do let the mice that tend to get into our houses this time of year just live there correct ? I mean putting out a trap or bait to kill them poor helpless creatures would be terrible
I think its AWESOME that two women are out in the field hunting and taking the initiative to become self reliant and use the renewable resources God has so graciously given us and made us stewards of.
Maybe next time you zip through McDonalds you should think about where that McDouble burger comes from .

If i had a chance at taking out two does with one shot i would, and there is a name for what she did it's called booneing. Have many of you forgot that guys like daniel boone shot two or three deer in one shot. I'm sorry but if that's what she wanted to do it's her god givin' right to do so. and further more i'm and advacate of youth hunting, it's not my fault your P.Oed at an eight year old taking two deer with one shot. many of you can only dream of doing what she did nuff said.

The only thing I can say is I agree the Nintendo DS does not belong out with a loaded gun...this could have been bad if she'd was alone, I know she was with mom, but still, what about in the future when she is alone?..I think we've heard enough about horrible accidents because of carelessness. I am always glad to see youth hunting, but bad habits that may seem harmless pass into adulthood.

Reguardless of my personal opinions on the mentioned article, I find it somewhat hipocritical to determine safety when there is an entire post on "FROM THE STAND" where individuals take photos and text from phones about their experiences while hunting. I have yet to see anyone chastising fellow hunters about the dangers of a loaded weapon in a tree along with the adult version of a Nintendo DS

I have passed on a many of deer because they were side by side, i do not see this as a victory of some kind but, what it is a safety and a humane issue. she can say that is what see was trying to do all she wants. i am willing to bet my left nad, it was purely accidental and she never even seen the second deer, after she was locked on with tunnel vision. I have killed 4 doe in under 3 minutes in my life. may not be 2 doe with one shot but, i know when i pulled the trigger each one was humanly killed and i wasn't taking pop shots at an animal. As far as booneing, have you ever heard of tall tales. there was not a flintlock around back then (or for that matter one today) that could put a round ball all the way thru 1 deer size game, it damn sure didn't go thru and into another. If you have ever shot a round ball, you would know that. Ah I see your only 28, nuff said!!! Maybe when you grow up, you will see the difference.

I don't see where his age has anything to do with the discussion. Comments like that make the younger crowd not want to contribute to the forum. . . but then again, I am 25, so maybe when I grow up I will think about things a little differently.
