We're about ready to head out again; nothing Sat am; had one off to our left this morning about 10 min into shooting hours but it cut off in to the corn before it cleared a bunch of thick stuff to give us a shot. I'll let JDUB tell you about last night....

greetings beehunter no not in the same way as you chaps do it,my lads are now 21yr old men and now have there own shotgun permits etc, Stuart came back tonight with two pigeons and a rabbit, using dads shells of course, lol When they were younger one just takes the kids along with you and if they want a shot you turn a blind eye give them a shot, there is nothing formal like you have over there. You can apply for a firearm permit for them but all except odd ones will be refused, they have to be fourteen before they can even legally use a 12ft lbs air rifle by themselves. I am afraid the anti gun lobby have got the ear of the politicians over here. Hunting is not formaly encouraged in any shape or form, it is something if you want to do it you just go and do it. regards Billy

Been a crazy evening so far. Had a good doe head down into a bottom in front of us, lost her down there, too thick. Got to the back. Had 3 in the field behind my place heading toward my woods; before they got there a yote showed up and ran them. Crazy night

Just had doe and fawn come out. Had them at 60 yards. Molly elected to pass. Didn't want to shoot mamma with fawn I'm tow. I said that's fine with me.

OK, if I must.I was in the stand and around 40Min before dark i was hunting with my bow for the first time and I look over and there were two does and a Fawn. They were about 30yds out and I moved the bow to get it up to draw and ding!.......there they go, I hit my bow on the stand and there they went, I got white flagged and they blew, I cannot tell you how mad I am!

Saw 2 does and 2 bucks tonight. One of the bucks was a 140 class in my opinion. My heart was beating worse than when I am ready to pull the trigger. Long story short, they disappeared into the woods about 200 yards away. It was a wonderful youth hunt. Even though we didn't score.

I received a photo via text message earlier today of a whopper buck taken in Switzerland County by a youth. Congratulations to all who scored in this thread, and thanks to the mentors who took someone out.

Hey buddy, shake it off! It happens to the best of us. I've been there. Just chalk it up to a learning experience and go get em next time!

Took Stephanie for her final youth hunt this weekend. Tough hunting with the heat and the farmers bouncing from one field to the next harvesting. At about 40 minutes before legal light turned off tonight she tells me she sees deer. A doe and two fawns came in, but neither of us saw momma until she turned to bolt when the stand squeaked. One of the fawns locked up at about 25 yards and Steph dropped the hammer. Her first deer ran about 30 yards and laid down within sight. The sheer pure emotional overload of a first deer, first kill on anything for her, is the only reason anybody needs to take a kid hunting. Simply amazing.

Apparently they didn't take the lesson you taught them to heart. Stephanie got a little revenge for you. There's only two back there to spook off now. ;-) I'm just teasing ya. Bow hunting is tough, that's why the Indians were all skinny.

Way to go Steph! Yep they come in really silent from that direction. I'm thinking the arms on that stand could use some new bolts before next season. How many 20GA shotgun shells did you find around there? Heh, Heh.....

I'd better refrain from doing so, as I do not know the hunter nor the landowner. It was killed on a farm adjacent to a friend's farm and he forwarded the pic to me. Sorry.

Well Done Molly, I take my hat off to you, not happy with the shot for what every reason and left it, it takes a real hunter to do that. One cannot force a good shot. There will be another time and it will feel right, and it will all go right. Regards to you and your family Billy
