A big 10 has a doe pinned down in a thicket about 100 yards away. He won't let her come my way. He's gotten to 50 yards twice to run 2 different 8 pointers off. One of which was big enough to shoot. Quite the show. Bet he's grunted 150 times this morning. Don't you hate it when they hang up just out of range. They do that to me in a thicket 60 yards away. I just try to catch them coming or going.

Seen 6 doe from the house this morning. Almost looks like they are hiding out in the yard and staying away from the rowdy bucks in the woods. He's missing the action

Did have little 2.5 year old 8 just walk under me. We scared each other pretty good.

You couldn't hunt up here in LaPorte cnty without a parachute today. They are saying near 50mph winds and I bet we are not too far off now. Our power went out 2hrs ago, and that's not uncommon at all for it to be out for sometime before it is fixed. Running on generator as we speak. We are at 34 deg and already spitting snow. Supposed to be inch or two 25mi west of me, but no good with the wind and I am working tonight. Hopefully the weekend straightens out.

Couldnt get out before daylight today but been in the stand since 10. Gonna try and sit all day. Light rain now, radar says it wont last long. Sitting 20 yards away from standing corn in a funnel hope to make something work.

I expected a bunch shot tonight, but I didn't have a shot tonight. I saw a 6 pointer, but not a shooter. I never heard him, just saw him sneaking by. So tell me fellas, is it worth hunting tomorrow night? I'm not much for being out in the rain. I won't melt, but I'm pretty much a sissy about doing anything in the rain. Cold is fine, but wet... nope. As crazy as it may sound, I'd rather be bundled up with my wife even though it's hunting season. John, I don't archery hunt in the rain. When I was in college I was called to help too many people track deer that they stuck in a rainstorm that were never recovered. I just don't want to take the chance. Whether it was the time it took for them to come and ask, or where they actually hit the deer, the blood trail was always poor to non-existant. I went to school at Univ. Wi Stevens Point for Natural Resources so there were a LOT of hunters - you could actually hunt on college property, within walking distance of the dorms.

Talk about a kick to the gut. Sorry to hear that. Mine is brushed in ok but, with the orange regs I can still spot it from the road which makes me nervous. Hope they get caught and answer for what they have done You do not have to have the orange the blinds unless occupied. If your blind can be seen from the road I would remove the HO when I am not actually hunting it.. Sorry Woody, should have been more specific.... When I am in my ground blind and the Orange patches are affixed to the outside it is visible from the roadway and to the passersby giving away its location. They also indicate that the blind is occupied. When i am not in the blind the orange patches are removed indicating that I am not in the blind. Which is telling the would be thieves to "Come and get it!". That's where my fear and nervousness stem from.

Not to jack this thread but I didn't think HO was required on ground blinds when we don't have to wear it ourselves; such as during archery season for example.

Hunted till 11:30 and had lot's of action 7 different buck's. Had a low 120's 10 point at 5 yard's and saw another 140's with nose to ground just down the hill from me about 90 yard's. Tried some grunting but he ended up going down in creek bottom after a doe. (The 10 pt had a hard time figuring out how a tree was grunting from 15 ft up in the air???) LOL, He stared at me for 10 min's before walking off. Rest of buck's were all 1.5 yr old's. I orginally thought the 10 pt was about 110" , but after getting home and replaying video he grew a little bit. Still made the right call in passing on him. I've got a 130" minimum I have set for myself and would have been disappointed if I would have shot him. (Just starting to get good.) The 10 pt and bigger 11 pt. I saw were both at 10:40. So the bigger buck's are starting to cruise during daylight now. Tomorrow look's like a washout/blowout, but Sunday looks good and also Monday. (Gonna take off work) IT'S TIME...

Boonechaser, where are you getting your weather forecast?
You have me worried. I see the high wind (15-20 mph) forecast for tomorrow, but no rain.

I see they have backed off on the rain/snow now and have it ending tonight. WIND look's to be the issue now. 15-20 with 25 mph gust's which leave's me in bed in the morning. (I HATE WINDY DAYS) Have to see how the rest of the day shapes up.
