Just a guess on this deer, but the stickers look to be at least 10" of deductions..

Don't get me wrong that is a heck of a deer. But that Scott Co. buck is more impressive to me.

Abnormals are not counted in the gross score. After the net score is determined, the abnormals are then subtracted from that.
I call gross plus abnormals the "total overall score".

If abnormals are deducted from the Net score ... what is that new score called? I am only familiar with two scores .... gross and net.
Sounds like there is a third score they have been keeping secret from all of us?

I just read through the B&C scoring sheet just to be sure .... only two scores I see. Gross score and then every abnormal point and symmetrical difference from side to side is deducted from that to get the net score.

On a typical deer, the abnormals are not counted in the gross, but ARE deducted from the net score.
Take two identical 145" NET 10-pointers. Add a 10" drop tine to one and it only nets 135". Only one will make the Indiana book. I'll admit that it sucks.

So if inches are deducted from the Net score .... what is that new score called?

Have you looked at an actual B&C scoring sheet? Am I missing something when I look at it? www.boone-crockett.org/pdf/SC_whitetail_typical.pdfSays right there to add the abnormal points along with the rest of the inches in "Column 3" which is the "differences" column and is used to deduct from the gross score to get the net score. They are not included in gross score but they are figured in before you get to the "net" score.

It's still the net score. Typical racks would net higher if one were to cut the abnormals off.

If abnormals were added to gross, then they would have no effect on the score. They'd be added and removed -- zero influence.

Im not sure what else I can do here ..... there is only one net score. Thats it. Nothing is subtracted or added once the net score is reached.

I'm typing from my phone at work, so not a lot I can do. I wish someone would call an official scorer and ask. You might be surprised by the answer...

Most deer hunters that I know says the gross score is the total of all inche's on the Bucks head. The net is after deductions.
