Evidently the last fine did not get NE's attention. If the NFL doesn't come down HARD on them they will keep doing what they are doing. Do they not understand that this puts a big, fat blemish on their records and legacy? Who is to say that they did not underinflate for every game they played? Maybe they deflated balls in the Ravens game too? That was close enough to make a difference.

I've never put a whole lot of stock in "everybody does it" as a defense. As an 8th grade teacher, I hear it all the time. It is a weak excuse. It does not amount to a hill of beans in my class. It doesn't amount to a hill of beans in a court of law. It should not amount to a hill of beans in this situation either.

My point was not to excuse it but to point out how all the NE haters jump on them like they are the worst example of lowlife's known to man when they aren't any worse than most of the rest of them.

If the Pats were caught cheating they will be punished .... just like every other player, coach or team that is caught cheating is. If they are punished it wont make any difference until the punishments outweigh the crimes .... until the league makes getting caught cheating much, much worse than upside to cheating and not getting caught. Every sport. Every team. There is still more to this story that needs to be determined before we even know if the Pats intentionally did this.

There are high profile commentators and former athletes calling for the "coach" (I won't say his name) to be banned from the sport. If that happens, I will throw a party!

Looks like "Deflategate" is in full swing. Honestly I'm on the side that says this is probably one of the stupider things I've seen as a sports controversy. I realize everyone here probably hates the Patriots but come on people. The refs had every opportunity to check the balls before they were put into play.
Does anyone know if the Colt's football air pressure was also checked? Without this data the evidence showing that 11 out of 12 footballs were 2lbs under the requirement is useless. Was the one ball that was correctly inflated actually the one that was used for kicking? There are way too many variables to conclude that the footballs were deliberately tampered with.

This is no place for level-headed reason. Get out!

Was the one ball that was correctly inflated actually the one that was used for kicking? There are way too many variables to conclude that the footballs were deliberately tampered with. The Patriot footballs were checked by officials two hours before the game and all were inflated within the rules. After the game started, the balls were "somehow" deflated. The Pats and their coach have cheated in the past and in this case (while I still think the Colts would have lost) the NFL needs to step in and suspend Bill Belichick for the Super Bowl and for part (if not all of next season) and fine the Pats big time. Will that happen? Of course not. While the NFL has taken a public relations beating all season and the commissioner talks about following the rules, his history of enforcement is a joke. In the end, the NFL won't act on this until after the Super Bowl (if @ all) as they don't want anything interfering with their party.

So how you think the air got out of the 11balls??? Give a example of the variables you speak of!!!

Inflated to the lower end of the range in a 90* room and then transported outside on a 30* day?
How much difference would something like that make?
