Jon, Monday - Wednesday first full week of season. 27, 28, 29th. Didn't want to fight the weekends. Yes, I am clueless too! The joy of learning new stuff keeps us younger than we deserve.

I think this will work as well as anything. I was getting a little worried that you would get someone in a headlock for being on your 10k acres.
I'm getting excited.

I think this will work as well as anything. I was getting a little worried that you would get someone in a headlock for being on your 10k acres. I'm getting excited. Headlock? Oh no! Arm bar, shoulder, wrist break. Wish a turkey would man up and fight, man to bird. Then again getting my butt whipped by a bird will be embarassing. Don't know how I could explain that to my grandsons in their doe and coyote costumes. Umm, it was..... Can't think of a good excuse. Darn. Even youngsters aren't as dumb as to fall for my excuses. Good luck buddy. Get a bird. Check my post on the DNR 2014 spring results. We need to be on our game, as usual.

Was at Mississinewa this morning and it sure was quiet out there. Only heard 1 gobbler all morning and it only lasted a few minutes. Did do some fishing after driving around listening for birds and actually never even heard 1 gunshot all morning.

Not great news but thanks for the report. What management areas did you scout? Did you catch any crappie?

Well I covered alot of ground. Went this morning as well. Started near the battlefield off FS trail and ended up near the flying field on the north side the lake. I finally found a few crappie after trying 7-8 different spots. Ended up catching them up near Somerset area. Figured they would of made their way upstream by now but guess not The area near the model airplane field looks great. Lot of bean and corn fields alternated with natural growth left in between. That is where I hope to start depending on the number of vehicles I see parked.

Only thing I can fly is a tractor, but I can't get it off the ground.

How do you add one? Can't figure it out I get your humor. It's been a couple years since I've done it. Stop thinking like a lawyer and you'll figure it out. There's one spot where they have made a little watering hole a couple miles back from the gate. I'll get there early and listen. If I don't hear anything, I'll need to try another forest, but from the satellite, it doesn't look good.

Scouted around the lake today. Started on the south side. Stopped at just about large every pull off spot. Probably a dozen or so. Blasted a crow call at each. No response. Nothing seen. Crossed the dam and worked the north side of the lake. Found some real good spots with good parking and easy access to cultivated fields. Spent time on 700 W, 650 W and 800 S. 800 S had a real nice pull off where you go in between two trees that look somewhat like a gate. Lots of cultivated fields back there. Jumped two nice size deer. That is about it.
