I have never paid for TV. I am about 60 miles from L-vile and Indy and get over 40 stations. I have a TV antenna outside the house. drs I get several KET stations 3 that I know off the top of my head. 15.1 and 15.2 and 15.3. With your outdoor antenna, is lightning a factor? Where I live, we're 1,070 Feet Above Sea level and have some strong storms with cloud to ground lightning. I've lost two sets from lightning strikes, but now have it grounded well, so if it weren't for this lightning issue I'd also set-up a TV tower, as it's simply too hilly where I live for anything else.

drs, your post brought back a memory of our class trip on a school bus, back in '62.
As we travelled trough WV on the way home, most of the hilltops that we could see from the bus windows had a common antenna with a number of wires running down the hillsides to the various homes where the TV's were.
We were a small community in southern Indiana and we though we lived in "the hills" until we came through some REAL hills 8^)

I am addicted to DIRECT TV but the way I look at it I can enjoy various kinds of racing from the comfort of my home and with the number of cameras they have mounted in race cars and around the tracks I get to see a crash from about 8 different views. I never stand in line for the bathroom or for food and if the race is boring I will turn on one of the numerous outdoor shows.

I have WOW and they just sent me s notice of raising my bundle package $15. That makes it $152 total. I am looking for another source.
The problem I have is I live down in a very low spot with trees on the south and west side. I don't think DISH is doable as I had it before and trees continually messed it up. Not sure if Direct points the same way or not.
I need to keep a landline as my wife runs out Helping Hand ministry from the house and being in this low spot we use an ATT MicroCell for our cell phones and it needs constant rebooting.
I will be checking into something besides WOW unless they will drop me and relist me as a "new customer" at new customer prices..

I had a friend who got a lot of channels. I actually watch a lot of shows on Netflix, especially off the air series that I'd never seen. It's fun to watch the shows back to back. I like my monster shows, so I will just change providers when it gets too high. I have Directv and also Netflix, Jon. Use the Directv hook-up for watching the news, and use Netflix for watching some of the old shows, ~WITHOUT ANY COMMERCIALS!~ Enjoy Netflix but they [could] get a better selection of Horror movies; also I noticed their removing the sitcom "Coach" on the 15th of September, I am only halfway through season two! You have Direct TV and Netflix??? Yes, I could come visit you. LOL The lack of commercials is great! You'll have to do a marathon weekend of the Coach. Right now, I'm watching Lie to Me. It has some really good story plots and some good science behind it.

Today's shows on TV aren't worth watching. I only listen to News on my Directv hook-up. I also have a collection of DVD's with series like LOST, and a few other movies I enjoy watching.

Anything is doable with the right technician. I've installed one over 500 feet from a house and never had an issue out of it. Dtv only recommends 150. It's all about how much a technician wants to work. In my 12 years I've only found a handful of houses I couldn't put it in. With that said, the industry is dieing. More and more people are realizing the there are way cheaper and sometimes free ways to get pretty much the same programming. I don't know how the at&t buyout will effect dtv, but when Murdoch sold it off the customer service and pricing went out the door. If you have internet there is no need to pay for TV.

How does the internet get me regular TV including sports...? There are a whole bunch of programs out there. Alot of sports you will have to watch after the game. Alot of times say you want to watch the colts play an away game at Pittsburgh. You can go to a local station in Pittsburgh and watch there feed. You can do hulu or sling box. What sports are you looking for? Just watching the colts or are you wanting to watch all the NFL games? Who is your cell phone provider and do you have a smart phone.

Of course it all depends on who answers the phone

I had the same issue with Time Warner, another 15$ a couple months ago. Up to 144 now. Ridiculous.

Satellite wasn't available where we live, when we bought the place and cable has never been an option, so we put up a 70' antenna. Since then, the wife set us up with satellite TV.
If it was strictly my call, I'd dump the satellite and be content with the antenna. It gets about 20 channels. Would miss some good sports stuff, but I could live with that. TV is a time waster.
