That's right, there is no advantage. If we had HPR we wouldn't want .358 Hoosier.

Don't want to get hit by either but.. 300gr 500s and w at 1938ftlbs at 100yds Vs
180gr at 2119 ft lbs @ 100yds...
That's just a little less and alot more bullet...

Vs. 500s&w .50 Muzzleloader .45 long Colt .357 magnum?? IMO ..... The 358 is a step up vs the rounds you posted....it is also a necked round vs a straight wall round! I think if I had a big enough pocket book and the patience/attention span for reloading or if I had shots on deer out passed 100yds regularly which I don't. Just wondering why everyone else is doing it. Like at 100yds is it practical to choose a .358 Hoosier vs a .357 magnum? Or the other above mentioned cartridges Do you select the Hoosier because it is a hand load and you like handloading anyway?

IMHO, Ballistic-ally (is that even a word?) superior to most other firearm options that we have. About the easiest wildcat to load for. Something different and unique. 358 Hoosier just sounds cool man!

However, it would have to be popular in more states, then only in Indiana. It's too bad Indiana has a minimum size of bullet being .357" and cartridge case length being 1.8" instead of an even 2".

For the hunting that I do, and for the equipment that I already have in my safe, buying a .358 Hoosier or any of the other "Indiana Legal" CF rounds makes no sense to me, both performance and economics wise. I have a .45 cal muzzleloader that shoots a 195g .40 cal bullet at a MV of 2850 fps. Range (yd)---------------0.0---100.0---200.0---300.0---400.0 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Bullet Height (in)..........-1.75....2.09....0.00..-10.43..-32.76 Wind Drift 10.0 mph....0.00....1.56....6.65...16.24...31.37 Wind Drift @15.0 mph....0.00....2.33....9.98...24.37...47.06 Wind Drift @20.0 mph....0.00....3.11....3.31...32.49...62.74 Energy........................3516....2555....1824....1281.....895
