It's personal preference on deer like this and what makes the hunter happy. That being said, a magnus stinger tipped blood spot arrow would be getting launched out of my mission bow had I been the one in the tree. Excellent product placement ad explanation right there. :-)

Shoot him then do a happy dance lol. I hunt public land (brookville lake area) so that's a shooter all day long

I've passed bigger deer and also shot smaller deer. Like others have said, it would just depend on whether I felt like I wanted him or not when he happened to show..

Unfortunately, there are groups of people that don't want everyone to have a choice. They want everyone to hunt and harvest only what fits their narrow view of how deer hunting should be.

I passed on a good one last year my first day out ...good one to me. They always seem to look smaller from my stand. I won't pass like that this year. It's all a learning process and instant judgement call. I won't know what I'll do until that moment, and lots of factors could impact that decision.
Honestly, I'm just so happy to have the health and free time to be out there waiting on them.

Lately, my health sucks. :-)

Is there anything I can help you with?

Work almost killed ...well, it wasn't exactly the work, but sure couldn't do it anymore. Is there anything I can help you with? Only if can legally figure out how to get me out of working 6 days a week and spending those days in the woods while still keeping all my bills paid. I'm sorry you I wasn't clear in the previous post. Health wise, I'm much better off than others. Time in the woods to "help my health" I'm very limited on. I took this coming weekend off to teach a Hunter Ed class, and it's supposed to be done in the upper 30's Saturday morning. Looks like 5 years in a row I can predict a great morning weather wise to be in the stand. If anybody is interested for next year I'll be sure to let you know when my last class of the year is scheduled. ;-)

I would pass. He is only a 3 year old and probably 120 inches. He definitely needs another year or two. In the next two years he will start to put on a lot of bone. A lot of you made comments about if you let him pass then someone else would shoot it. By saying that, you have become that other person. If you ever want to shoot a stud, then you need to take that chance and let deer with good potential walk. This deer has a good frame. However, it needs to mature, gain mass, and tine length. I only hunt a a 50 acre plot and I continually have good mature deer crossing through the property. If you are a true trophy hunter then I would let him walk.

Not sure there are a lot of "true trophy hunters" here. It's kind of why I like it here.

He better not walk past me! I'm on 120 acres and I'm pretty sure my neighbors would smoke him if I don't.

My opinion that is a pretty good bow kill. Yes I have shot bigger but it is the deer that I am most proud of.

Of course, I've just hunted two seasons with two bucks. I would love to have one like on your photo. It's all relative to the person. Since, I don't have many, I'd take one like in the photo in a heart beat. You should be proud! You won't see me be sarcastic very often.

I spend most of my free time researching and trying to better understand the whitetail deer and their habits. It is a lot of work but I have a real passion for hunting deer. Best of luck! Hope to see a picture of you behind a mature deer this year.

I let it walk if its me, but I am different. I like to hunt mature bucks that are suspicious of everything, way more of a challenge. I watched a 150 incher for 45 minutes to cover 50 yds before stopped every 2 steps to test the wind before I put an arrow in him. The point is everyone has different standards on what a trophy is to them.

Some people hunt because they love it. Some people don't see hunting as a way to challenge themselves. You are correct, everyone is different.
