I went to Academy Sports in Evansville today and they only had 3 boxes of ammo in the store. Luckily it’s what I was after 25-06. I don’t listen to the news but did I miss something? I know Joe Biteme will tax the heck out of ammo so thought I’d stock up.

The last ammo I bought there I was there at 8:30 I was about number 15 in line. I was after .556 and they had some. They do limit 3 boxes of each ammo per person per day. Try it tomorrow (Wednesday) but get there before the doors open. Not sure Biden can do that ammo tax all by himself..

I looked online to research exactly what authority any president has concerning the so called, "executive orders". There`s a lot of information out there, although nothing I found claimed to have much in the way of knowing exactly where a president`s authority using executive orders begins and ends. For example, it boggles the mind that the executive order obama issued to allow so called "dreamers" to be protected from deportation, yet, President Trump was blocked by the courts from issuing his own executive order to cancel that protection. So, as to what biden may be able to get away with by executive order worries me...

Its a mixture of fear buying and short supply (due to shutdowns).

After Sandy Hook, I learned my lesson and keep a good amount of ammo on hand so situations like this don't normally find me short.
I also know of a couple of stores near me that always seem to have a bit of ammo when others don't and if I start to run short, that's where I go to first.

When I went to Walmart to get my deer firearms license I noticed they had very little, just shotgun if I remember right. I said something to the clerk just in conversation and he said they told them to pull the ammo off of the shelves. Then right before the election they were told to put it back out. A week later they were told to pull it all but the shotgun ammo. He didn't understand why and neither do I unless they're just hoping they can get more money for it later if things get nuts. If they have it,why not put it out?

I was wondering if I missed something. I have plenty of ammo on hand but wanted more 25-06. Bet I’ve got 5000 223 and 44 mag probably about 500. Assorted other ammo 200 here and there.

If they have it,why not put it out? Their reasoning, if I remember right, was that if the stores got looted, they didn`t want ammo accessible.

On a side note my wife was with me and we stopped to look at long guns, they had maybe 4 in the racks. Plenty of handguns in the glass case but rifles, muzzleloaders etc were gone.

If your buying a gun now to hunt with I think you probably waited to long.

I found ammo at Midway USA - not sure about the prices, but a gun is worthless without ammo! They had 5.56 that I was after. Hunting season tends to put a hurt on ammo and when Biden became a reality many folks tried to stock up as well. I also heard there was some sort of large government contracts to be filled as well. I know around here ammo was...and still may be pretty sparse as far as most normal calibers are concerned. Some folks are even having a hard time finding reloading supplies.

Not all guns bought recently are for hunting... Lots of ammo shortages on handgun loads (non-deer rounds like 9mm and 45ACP) and 5.56 x 45 as well.. Only thing I saw on the shelves where deer slugs for shotguns for the most part.

When the last ammo shortage happened, I started a .22LR stash, money that is. Checked the prices around here and there, got an idea of quality, price, and accuracy from over the Net. Did some shooting of different makes and came up with Federal .22LR, copper plated, 36gr. hollow points, 550 pack I had left over on a back shelf that was the most accurate in 3 .22 rifles I have. Hmmm, where did I get those? More digging and a receipt showed up. Wally World here in town. Went down to check to see if they had any on the shelves. Yep, several at $21.34 out the door. That's 3.88 cents apiece. Bought a few, back to the store for more, then they were all gone. Then when the shortage was over and things were picking up again, every occasion for a good while a town visit also meant a stop at WW. My trips slowed down a bit when I decided to make a complete inventory of old and new .22's. Yipes, gotta get about 3 more boxes and that's it, period. Final count was right at around 28,500, but have shot a few since the count. Otherwise, if possible start saving dollars right now even if it just pocket change, for the next time the shelves start filling up.

Glad I bought 3 boxes, sounds like ammo will be scarce for awhile.
