In the interest of science I went over to the safe and pulled my Uberti Cattleman 1873 Colt Clone (almost) out. It has a transfer assembly that does not permit firing without the trigger being pulled. Like the original Colts it clicks C O L T as the hammer is drawn back. It will not come off the T position without the trigger being pulled. Now I did not want to drop the hammer at full speed with the trigger released as it stops at the "L" or half cock position. Same goes for all other position. If the trigger is released it stops at the next position after it is manually to clear that notch or will not go forward. So I thought what would happen in Fanner 45 mode? The gun can be fired. Now I have no desire to test that with live ammo. The only way I can see for the gun to fire without would be for the gun brought to full cock and the hammer lowered to full fired position. Then something would need to strike the hammer as the fireing pin would be resting on the primer. Additional testing would require a live primer. Further testing is available at my current shop rate of $55 an hour + parts and ammo. No firearms were harmed in making this post. All tests were done with the cylinder removed. Your milage may vary. Opinions expressed are my own. Uberti parts. Hammer details are in the window 2. www.midwestgunworks.com/uberti/1873-cattleman/parts.htmlFor what it is worth I do not know the make, model or date of manufacture which may make a huge difference in results. Also this would have been done and over with a long time ago if it was a normal everyday person.

Yes, not because he should have checked himself, but because he shouldn't have pointed it at another person. That's my #1, but the list is not limited to that.
The particular firearm in question has been tested by two different sources and the gun cannot be fired unless the trigger is pulled.
What is getting glossed over is that the armorer was not the last person to touch the gun before Baldwin. "first assistant director Dave Halls grabbed the gun from the cart and brought it inside to Baldwin"
Whenever you pick up a gun you check to see if it is loaded. Why isn't Dave Halls involved in this too?

In the last 2 days news of Alec Baldwin's movie RUST began popping up on my YouTube. This one came up this morning. Long and boring. The part about training blew me away. And she is not the Armour. Her (the armour) testimony is on another video. youtu.be/DSWJNUXowe0?si=ORV9wuEtmNIm4AKKI guess I have to ask if she is an example of competency in the people handling firearms in Hollyweird why aren't we reading about more shootings on set?
