Since I went to bed at 1am and awoke at 2:30 like it had been eight hours ( don't ask me; happens sometimes ) I thought it would be a good time for a fun post.
Back in January I started jotting down corny scenes or other things that seemed to reoccur in movies and television on a notebook that is always nearby. It pains me to say that some of the things I noticed never got written down but here is what did:
. In drive-up scenes where our protagonist is in a hurry this will be illustrated by our hero jumping out of the car and leaving the car door wide open no matter where he's at; desert, busy street, bad neighborhood...
. When our hero has a shot or sips on a glass of the hard stuff he will make a pained expression and or exaggerated swallow after the drink to emphasize the harshness .
. If there is a scene involving a creek or any shallow water our hero will wade right into it in his socks n shoes even when it makes zero sense.
. If our hero stops at a stream to take a drink he will often wash his face or splash his hair. Also, this is often the point he will notice that the Indian Maiden/ buxom pioneer babe/ or inept bad guy is following him.
. In 70's or 80's flicks , during night scenes in the city the streets and sidewalks look wet. Also during this era the footsteps had the same gritty, hard soled sound is dubbed in.
. The dubbed crickets in the nighttime scenes sound the same from Gunsmoke! to today in most cases.
Can you add to this list?
Bonus content: To write accented é as in cilché hold down 'alt' and type 0233 on the numerical keypad. I am embarrassed to say I did not know this until today. Untutored bumpkin, lol

Wide awake for no good reason here too. Suspenseful music right before the action or jump scare always irritates me. It's like aww crud now I know it's coming.

No one ever says bye on a phone call in a movie. They just hang up.

Always found the shooting scenes with pistols interesting. They can have shootouts with pistols and it never affects their hearing, they are even whispering to each other during and afterwards in some scenes because they don't want their adversaries hearing them.

Any submarine movie, especially Hunt for Red October, especially since I served aboard the USS Dallas SSN 700! LOL However, there is a really great series on youtube if you are interested in WW-2 history called the Silent Service. It ran for 3 years in the 50's and has interviews at the end of each episode with actual members of the crew. Each episode is only about 22 minutes, and there are close to 90 episodes.

In every Cowboy movie and TV show someone pulls and cocks a Colt SAA. No shooting takes place and the hammer is let down on a live round and reholstered. I have never see the cylinder rotated to an empty chamber.
Every Disney movie since Davy Crocrect uses the same sound of a muzzle loader going off. That annoying pop- - - boom.
And since we have a member of the silent service do subs really turn on red lights when in combat?
Why is it that the bad guy with a scoped rifle on top of a building misses but the dective with a S&W stubby 38 center punches the guy first shot?

Only in the control room area, it helps your eyes to adjust to the darkness. I was a Machinist Mate so my job and battle stations were in the engineroom, so we had no need to go to red and had fluorescent lighting in all engineering spaces. Very seldom did I see us go to red like the old diesel boats. Nuclear subs were the first true submarines that could stay submerged for extended periods of time. The only thing we needed to surface for was to replenish our food stores. Food was our only limiting factor, and we usually carried a 90 day supply, but even that could be stretched out if needed. We made our own power for propulsion and electricity and our own water. That job I really enjoyed! A modern nuclear reactor can last upwards of 30 years before refueling. It was an awesome experience, met a lot of good people that have become life long friends, and the highly specialized training no doubt helped me acquire a very good job when I left the Navy. I have no regrets and am proud to have been a submariner!

Thank you for the response. Was Bart Mancusco your CO? I am a good fan of Tom Clancy.
I have heard getting into Sub Service was harder than Seal School.
Thank you for your service.

When that happens I like to watch 2005 V for Vendetta movie. Stage set for 2027 with the covid pandemic. British film.

I forgot that even when the heat of battle has abated for the moment, the cops/heros simply drop their mags on the ground and walk on.

In every scene where a car pulls up and stops, the brakes squeak. Apparently every car in the movies and TV needs brake work...

How about two guys punching and kicking each other for a solid 4 minutes, and then they just walk away? Having been there and done that, it doesn't work that way! Or my favorite, two guys at about 25 feet empty 9mm's at each other and no one is hit?

What about the hero sneaking around looking for where the bag guy is hiding. He finally finds where they are getting ready to toucher the leading lady and he racks the slide why? I am thinging if I were heading into a gun fight I want those 2 extra rounds.

I've determined that the reason why the slow zombies on The Walking Dead ever sneak up on anybody is because they are deaf from shooting so much.

I was watching a movie yesterday and an old Ford taurus was taking off at an average speed with a nice tire squeal sound.

Car chase scenes where a car goes skidding around a corner. You can see several sets of skid marks already on the pavement from the practice runs.
