Got a couple Canada geese in the field about 150 yards west of me. Now they took wing honking all the way.
Nice seeing critters even if they arent the ones we are after.

I had two gobblers come out across from me anout 125 yards down. They picked a little and then headed east away from me. Calls didn’t phase them.

Had an early gobble pretty far south of me. Had a possum amble by. He didn’t like the decoys and made a detour around them.

Text for the Day -- Hosea 5:15-6:3 ---------- I will return again to my place until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face. In their distress they will beg my favour:
'Come, let us return to the Lord; for it is he who has torn, and he will heal us; he has struck down, and he will bind us up. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him. Let us know, let us press on to know the Lord; his appearing is as sure as the dawn; he will come to us like the showers, like the spring rains that water the earth.'
Devotional ---------- The prophet Hosea pictures God as both judge and healer. Israel had turned away from God. As a result God withdraws from Israel and allows them to experience defeat and humiliation. In that turning away God hopes that Israel will seek God and experience the healing that God can provide through God's mercy and love.
Prayer ------------------ Continue to support my journey with you, O Lord. Amen

You and your wife have had a very tough time of it. From your postings I can tell that you are standing strong for her. Keep it going..
Above all pray for the good Lord's peace in this battle. He is the only one that can strengthen you and bring you peace through it.
You and your wife are in my daily prayers.

Could the landowner that he poached it from sue him for the value of the buck? The state owns the wildlife not landowners…. Personally, I believe it's a typo or miss-information I think it's an ignorant reporter AND editor. .

Text for the Day -- Mark 16:9-16 ---------- Now after he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons. She went out and told those who had been with him, while they were mourning and weeping. But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they would not believe it.
After this he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country. And they went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them.
Later he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were sitting at the table; and he upbraided them for their lack of faith and stubbornness, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen. And he said to them, 'Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation. The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned.'
Devotional ---------- There was tension among the first disciples between those who experienced Jesus after the resurrection and believed and those who did not believe their testimony. The apostles are those who are commissioned to testify to the resurrected Lord. This message is a real challenge to the world, yet it is a life-giving and saving message. In spite of the many refusals to believe our testimony, we continue to share.
Prayer -------------- Give me steadfastness in my witness, Lord. Amen

I have never turkey hunted but my son wants to give it a go. Got a blind, a couple decoys, and have had him pattern his gun. When you go out in the morning about how long before sunrise do you like to be set up? I like getting out there early enough to set up, relax and have a cup of coffee or two before the birds start gobbling. As for the rest of the day, they can be pretty much hunted all day. Mid day is good as well as late afternoon. Good luck and kudos to you for taking him out! Hunt safe and God bless! WHAT? WAIT... the birds "gobble"?

"A civil trial to decide....."
I'm confused. Why is this labeled a "civil trial"?

I have never turkey hunted but my son wants to give it a go. Got a blind, a couple decoys, and have had him pattern his gun. When you go out in the morning about how long before sunrise do you like to be set up? Legal time is a half hour before sunrise. In my area sunrise is 5:51 AM CST.I would try and be in the blind no later than 4:45 am cst. So an hour before sunrise is good. Walk in when it is dark. Do not use a flashlight. Good luck and have fun making memories! PS.. be sure and post your adventures here!

Text for the Day -- II Peter 3:1-4, 8-9 ---------- This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you; in them I am trying to arouse your sincere intention by reminding you that you should remember the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets, and the commandment of the Lord and Saviour spoken through your apostles. First of all you must understand this, that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and indulging their own lusts and saying, 'Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since our ancestors died, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation!'
But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day. The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance.
Devotional ---------- Jesus' death and resurrection were accomplished to fulfill many prophecies of promise over many centuries. Our perspective on time makes us impatient with God's promises. We want it all right now. This passage cautions patience, trusting that in God's time, God's promises will continue to be fulfilled.
Prayer ---------------- Holy Spirit, work patience in my heart and mind with regard to God's promises to me. Amen

I’ve got about another half hour in me.. I haven’t seen, nor heard, a turkey since the dog ran off the Jake. That was 4 hours ago.
8 hours is enough…
