The wind is blowing pretty strong in Bloomfield. Squirrels are sure having fun. I'll teach them to have fun on my watch!!! . Lol I think I'm a little sleep deprived. I almost waived at a tree I thought was a person. I had to break out the binos to make sure I was just seeing things.

Just got back to the truck to regroup. Couldn't find anything for a couple hours then we started to walk towards the truck to start over and Bec stumbled on her bloody arrow about 150yds from the shot. Light blood for about 10ft and lost it again. Just called a bloodhound in. Should be here shortly. Good luck!

Wasn't sure if I was going to tell before we had it in our hands, but.. Becca shot her first deer with a compound tonight. At 515 a doe and small buck came in. I won't go into ALL the details unless/until I post of us finding it. I asked her which she wanted, she said the buck, and she took a 25yd quartering away shot. She's practiced like crazy and shoots as far as 28yds from a stand at home. I wanted closer but that's what finally presented itself, I trusted her when she said she was good and gave her the ok. From my angle the shot looked high and several ribs back from the shoulder but with the quartering angle I'm sure she got the off side lung but I don't know if it clipped the onside or liver along the way. The arrow was maybe half way in, 12" I guess? Deer took a few bounds then was in a thicket where I caught one more glimpse of it going away but alot slower. No crash. Gave it an hour and checked. Light fading fast bit tried to find where it stood and last place I saw it but no luck. I didn't push it and told her we'd wait til morning. Please wish us luck. I want nothing more than to find her buck in the morning. She's always shown the happy/excited emotions after a shot but today was special. She was so happy, to the point of crying. She's wanted a deer with her bow so bad and finally got the opportunity. I finally saw she truly has the love for it that I do even at only 10 years old. Any luck?

it honestly has helped me pass time without it I would of been looking already. You should be watching more!! You can't harvest a Deer by texting. What's the difference between reading a book and playing on your phone in the stand? I'm on my phone a lot while in the stand. It's better than falling a sleep, which is what I would be doing. It is amazing how quiet they are and how fast the can sneak up on you. So the key is to be conscious what you are out there for and not concentrate so much in the phone but the woods around you.

Guys, you might have better luck if you would stop "texting" messages and start watching for Deer. What about playing deer hunter on my phone?? Lol. Here I am in Indiana and I'm hunting antelope.

I ended up passing on a doe, she had her fawn with her. I know the fawn would have been fine if I took mom, but I couldn't do it. I was enjoying watching them try to figure out my decoy. I nearly laughed out loud in the stand. I swear mom turned her head like a dog does when they hear a strange sound. Here is the decoy. He only has half his rack. I didn't want to intimidate the other deer. Lol.

My morning hasn't gone as planned. Slept through my alarm by 2 hours and then get a ticket on the way here. Maybe my luck will turn around.
Good luck everyone!!!

Mine is a savage 110 chambered in 358 Hoosier. It was assembled by M&S Armament. The barrel is from BFG Designs and came stainless. I put a Boyd's thumbhole stock on it and a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 bdc scope on top. It is a tack driver and a lot of fun to shoot. I'm ready to to sit on the edge of the field with it again! Good luck this season.
